The Perfect Pop of Warm Color for Every Season

The cinnamon-like peeling bark is the most outstanding feature of the Paperbark Maple. True to its namesake, the bark of the Paperbark Maple peels and curls like paper. Reminiscent of peeling cinnamon bark, the dark outer layer reveals the bright, rich red-orange inner layer of the tree.

The incredibly bright pops of color will be striking in winter. The warm hues of the Paperbark Maple will stand out against your dormant, dull trees and vibrant evergreens. Imagine how beautiful your yard will look as bright copper streaks of color, peeking out from behind delicate curls of bark, pop out against a blanket of white snow.

The full canopy of this maple is magnificent in the spring and summer. An outstanding ornamental winter tree, the Paperbark Maple adds visual interest in the spring too. The deep green, three lobed leaves of this Maple have a cool blue-gray underside. You will enjoy the interest that the warm tones of the bark and the cool tones of the leaves bring to your landscape.

A full year of visual interest, the fall brings even more appeal. The show stopping colors of the Paperbark Maple continue into fall. The last of the Maples to show autumn colors, your tree will stand out once again as other trees become dormant and the Paperbark Maple begins its autumnal show. With fall colors ranging from vibrant scarlet red to deep orange, this tree is a stunner all throughout the year.

Growing to a manageable height, this tree is perfect for smaller yards. Topping off at 20-30 ft., the Paperbark Maple is a spectacular centerpiece for smaller yards. You won't have to worry about the intense color intimidating your landscape because the manageable size of the Paperback makes it a perfect showpiece for small yards.

The Paperback Maple is great for large yards too. Paperback Maples make great companions to larger trees. The smaller height and warm colors of this tree make it a great contrast for your tall evergreens.

There's nothing to worry about with this tree. When you plant a Paperbark Maple, you don't have to worry about soil conditions, maintenance, diseases and pests. The only thing you'll need to grow this tree is a little bit of patience. It may take 15 years for your tree to reach full maturity, but in the meantime, you won't have to worry about constant management.

The perfect addition of warmth to every yard, this tree is in demand. It's easy to see why so many would want to buy this tree. Easy to care for, durable and great for small and big yards, everyone wants the ornamental Paperback Maple. Don't be left out. Go ahead and buy yours today.

A beautiful specimen tree
This has recently been one of my favorite trees so I knew I had to have this in my landscape. The peeling bark and orange fall color of the leaves is what I love about this tree. It's slow growing but in time it will be worth the wait. I ordered two of them.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Paperbark Maple

Paperbark Maple Planting Diretions

Planting Instructions: You can plant this tree in a place that receives full sun. For climates that face extreme cold it is better to plant this tree as an understory. Be sure to plant in a spot with well-drained soil.  The Paperbark is not picky about soil, but does better with slightly alkaline soils. You can amend your soil as necessary. Be sure to dig a hole deep enough for the root ball to have some room to spread out. After planting, add a thick layer of mulch around the base of the tree to keep out competing weeds and help with water retention.

Watering: Keep your tree well watered as the Paperbark Maple is not drought tolerant. If you get less than 1" of rain per week, be sure to water deeply that week. When you are first trying to establish your tree, make sure to water very deeply.

Maintenance: There is not additional maintenance for this tree. IF you wish, you can prune the tree as desired to remove dead branches or shape the tree with a main leader. If you do prune, do so during winter as this Maple will bleed sap after winter.

when is the best season to plant the Paperbark Maple?
Kevin on Sep 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Spring or Fall is the best. If planted in the Summer, just make sure you give it plenty of water.
What is the minimum radius this can be planted from a driveway or sidewalk? I'm looking to replace a Live Oak planted by a builder too close to the driveway. Builders don't think about the driveway cracking 10 years later. I live in Austin, TX area (zone 8, near zone 9). Thanks.
