If you could go back to the frontier days, you'd see towns lined with the Silver Maple…

The adaptability and durability of this native tree makes it a well-loved tree throughout American history.

Early settlers loved its sap too. Though sap production was too slow for commercial use, the light maple syrup taste was a favorite in the frontier days.

In winter, you and your family can enjoy this same light syrup…

With the lowest sugar content of all maples, you can feel confident knowing this all-natural treat doesn't come with any guilt.

Plant this historically well-loved tree in your yard soon. This native tree has been loved for centuries, and its long-lasting popularity isn't going to slow down.

Order yours today and you'll soon enjoy a classic shade tree that will live for generations to come.

Fast shade but ..........

A real fast grower and useful in the right spots. But beware .... Silver Maple has shallow roots that often are on the surface and will heave and crack sidewalks and driveways that are nearby. The limbs are also quite weak and have a tendency to break easily in areas with heavy wet snow.

Silver maple

I planted 1 of these next to my autumn blaze maple as they had extremely similar growth. The tree was packaged beautifully but the tree only gave me yellow fall color unlike the photo. So this gave **** contrast next to the red autumn blaze I had in the fall.

Planting & Care

The Silver Maple can be planted in any soil condition, though it naturally grows in soggy bottomlands. It can tolerate full sun or partial shade. Plant in a hole twice as wide, though just as deep as the root ball. Mulch around the canopy, but not near the trunk, will help the tree maintain moisture. Plant away from power lines, structures, sidewalks and sewer lines.

Watering: This tree can tolerate wet or dry conditions. Be sure to water the tree weekly in its young life to ensure proper growth. If you live in an area with frequent droughts, you may need to water weekly throughout its life.

Pruning: If you live in an area with windy conditions, hurricanes, ice storms, or salty air, you'll need to prune your tree in the early spring to prevent limb breakage. Prune the weakest branches including any dead or diseased branches.
