Thrives on Neglect and Drought

Why Drought Tolerant Evergreen Trees?

One of the top benefits is right in the name: The Drought Tolerant Evergreen Tree thrives on neglect, forming a thick privacy screen through an array of tough conditions. In fact, it's also adaptable to various soil types and is actually the most drought tolerant of any evergreen.

Also known as the Blue Sapphire Cypress, this hardy tree stands up to the extreme weather conditions that damage and even kill most evergreens. These trees are also referred to as the Arizona Cypress in arid, Southwestern regions. Basically, the Drought Tolerant Evergreen is an extremely versatile tree that can be planted anywhere within its growing zones.

Why is Better

In addition to its strength, its unique blue-green foliage lends gorgeous good looks that belie its resilient, tough growth. And it requires no upkeep to preserve its great shape, making it fantastic for use as a hedge, privacy screen, or property divider.

But the best part? We've nurtured our Drought Tolerant Evergreen for these amazing benefits and more. Because we've grown, planted and meticulously cared for each tree before shipping, you reap the rewards in your own landscape.

So, see what all the hype's about...and elevate your landscape, effortlessly, with our Drought Tolerant Evergreen Tree today!

Wonderful Arizona Cypress trees

I have planted them, but have no new growth yet. They arrived in pretty decent shape, well packaged and soil was not dried out, thank Goodness as the FedEx driver tossed them in the middle of my yard, in the sun, in 100 degree temps. I rescued them and unpacked, watered and kept them in the shade for a week to make sure they would survive the trauma. I read the reviews and decided to stake them immediately, just in case. July and this present part of August have been brutal, with no appreciable rain, so they are getting a shower daily to give them a little reprieve. I am very hopeful and will update soon. Thank you.

Well I just planted them so I need a little time to see how they progress.

All Dead

I ordered 5 of these trees last fall, with the expectation of ordering more if they did well. I live in a hard area in the east mountains of New Mexico, with hard clay soils, hot summers and cool winters, so I figured this tree would be my best bet. I planted them exactly as instructed last fall, and then watched them all turn brown over winter. Very disappointed.

We hate hearing that your trees didn't make it! Please send us some photos of the trees and we'll see what we can do to help!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Drought Tolerant Evergreens prefer a location with full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Choose an area with soil that drains well, away from poorly-drained, soggy areas.

Prepare your soil before planting the Evergreen by adding organic materials including sphagnum peat moss, manure, and compost in a 1- to 3-inch layer over the planting area. Dig the hole as deep as and approximately twice the width of the root ball. Holding the tree, carefully place it into the hole and make sure that the roots are not curling upwards. Then, cover the hole with the removed soil mix, making sure the tree is upright, and cover the entire planting area with an organic mulch.

2. Watering: Once the roots are established, your Drought Tolerant Evergreen should not need any supplemental watering. Be sure to inspect the tree and surrounding soil for extreme dryness during extended winter dry spells and water if necessary.

3. Fertilizing: Evergreen trees don't require much fertilizer. We recommend not fertilizing unless your evergreen begins losing its dark green color due to a lack of nutrients. If necessary, just a tablespoon of balanced fertilizer (labeled 12-12-12) sprinkled on top of the ground around the tree is sufficient.
