Evergreens for Warm Climates

Add color and character to your landscape with Evergreens for Warm Climates, the perfect pick for year-round greenery. Whether you choose the iconic Thuja Green Giant or one of our many Holly Trees, you'll have a fresh landscape and effortless green screening thought drought, high heat, and other tough conditions.

Planting and Care for Evergreens for Warm Climates

Though specific directions will vary from tree to tree, knowing your growing zone is an important first step. After you’ve determined your growing zone, keep sunlight and watering needs in mind for your Evergreens for Warm Climates. Most will prefer full sun to partial sun (anywhere from 4 to 8 hours of sunlight per day) and well-drained soil.

Your fertilizing and pruning needs will vary as well, but many of our Evergreens do not require pruning unless you'd like to shape them.

From there, select an area with well-drained soil, dig a hole large enough to accommodate the tree’s root ball (along with some extra width for mature growth), place your tree and backfill the hole. Finish by watering the surrounding soil and mulching to conserve moisture for your hedging.

How to Space Evergreens for Warm Climates

Keep in mind the mature height and width of your Evergreen Trees, and plant them away from sidewalks, power lines and structures for best results.

For spacing and privacy purposes, your ideal Evergreens will depend on the space you have. For smaller spaces, we suggest going with a tree such as the Sky Pencil Holly because it's more narrow and compact.

If the spacing isn't an issue, the Thuja Green Giant and Emerald Green are both ideal Evergreens for Warm Climates. But no matter which of our Evergreens you choose, spacing is important.
