One of the Fastest Growing Privacy Screens
Why Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar Arborvitaes?
The Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar is one of our most popular varieties due to its fast, full growth. After the first year, this tree grows more than 3 feet every year until it reaches its mature height. Plus, since it's extremely narrow, it’s an ideal screen for even tighter spaces.
And there's simply no better option for a privacy screen because it's cheaper than a traditional fence. The Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar’s dense growth habit and manageable width make it perfect for borders, street hedging and beyond. Since it can grow up to 30 feet, it's even well-suited as a buffer for second-story balconies and decks. Even better? It’s resistant to extreme heat, cold, wind, and ice, so it's super strong. A little watering and it's good to grow!
What is a Jumbo Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar Arborvitae Tree?
Jumbo trees are the most mature plants offered at Fast Growing Trees. Thanks to their well-developed root systems and large container size of 10-15 gallons, they deliver superior drought resistance, enhanced mineral absorption, and fuller growth. They're the perfect choice for instant privacy and a more established look in your landscape.
Grown in limited quantities, Jumbos are a premium option for those looking to make an immediate impact in their yard.

Rough start, but all good now
We bought 40 12” American Pillar arborvitae trees, our ‘babies’ in late May. We live in Montana and saw the trees came from South Carolina and were worried the cooler temps were going to be problematic. We planted the trees right away on a nice sunny day. It was a beautiful May!! Mulched with 2-3” of wood chips. Then we got some hard frosts!!! In June! We set up a heated wire that ran the length (about 120’) draped sheets over the chicken wire fencing we surrounded the row of trees with. Watered frequently. It is now August. All the babies are doing well. Doubled in size! Some had the tips brown for a month, but that’s gone. Green budding tips now. We set up a drip system to water twice a week. Fingers crossed!
12 ft + in 3 years
Planted in 2023 May when they were 2-3 ft tall. Now in 2026 they are 12-15 ft and all of them survived. Did the alternate planting as someone told me their life reduces if planted too tight to each other. They give a very nice look to the backyard in addition to providing privacy.
Beautiful product
Can't wait to watch them grow, lush green, growing nicely already
Fast growing
Best hedge ever. Planted in November 2023, rocky clay soil. If they grow here, they will grow anywhere. Highly recommend
Great Hedge arborvitea
Bought a bunch of 4-5 footers ( 3. 5-4 once planted ). Live in Midwest colder climate with soil that is mostly clay & rocks. Took a bit for them to grab hold, then they were completely as expected. Planted 2. 5 years ago and are now 10" SEE PIC, Purchased to create a hedge and are totally satified.
