Fast-Growing Tree, Even in Wet Soil
Why Dawn Redwood Trees?
Year-round interest, versatility, and easy growth (even in wet soil) are just a click away with the Dawn Redwood Tree. Not only does this tree deliver good looks almost anywhere, but it also couldn't be easier to plant and grow.
Unlike similar varieties, standing water is no problem for the Dawn Redwood. If you have low areas in your landscape that puddle after heavy rains, plant the Dawn. Most trees can't survive in this type of environment, but this tree loves it and soaks it all in to grow to amazing heights of up to 50 feet!
You'll get amazing foliage and color without any hassle. The Dawn Redwood's beautiful, fern-like foliage develops in the spring, adding perfect green color to your landscape that thrives through the summer season. The majestic, fast-growing tree transitions in the fall to a gentle gold in homage to autumn.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant your Redwood in well-draining soil and in a spot that receives full sun. Place in a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball. There's no need to amend the soil, but do add a thick layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture.
2. Watering: Make sure your Dawn Redwood receives one inch of water each week, and more if you live in a dry, drought-prone area. Rain is usually enough to keep it hydrated, but you'll likely need to water once a week for the first couple of years.

My 10th purchase
The Dawn redwoods do great in Indiana. (Not so much with their relative, giant sequoia). Given adequate water, some of my redwood trees have grown, 5-8 feet per year. If you want the awesome, gothic, “Harry Potter” trunk, don’t prune them. However, if you want a straight trunk, then you’ll need to take off the lower branches every year. Word of Caution: these trees grow fast and large and do best in moist soil. Think twice about planting them near any man made structure because the roots grow big too. I’d keep them at least 20ft from driveway or sidewalk. Very cool and pretty tree. Reminds me of prehistoric times. The tree was native to all of North America back then.

Arrived happy and healthy
Doing great so far!

Redwood
The tree looks good. It came in early April, which is too early for Michigan this year. I’ve had to plant it in a pot and and leave it in my living room until early May when it will be safe to plant. It’s leafed out nicely and seems happy. I purchased a tree that was estimated to be 6-7 feet. It’s actually close to 8 feet. Very nicely established.

Impressed
My husband and I were impressed with the tree right out of the box. Hoping and praying we’ll have good luck with it growing
