Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Rocky Mountain Fir Tree

Rocky Mountain Fir Tree Planting Diretions

Plant your Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir in a spot in your yard that gets at least 6 hours of sun each day. If planting more than 1 tree, be sure to leave at least 20 feet of space in between. It's very important that you plant in well-drained soil. To plant, dig a hole in the ground that is two times as large as the root ball. Place the tree in the loose soil and press the soil down until the tree's roots are completely covered.

Watering: Water the ground immediately after you plant your tree, but don't oversoak. To establish your young tree, you may need water 1-4 times each month during the summer. Your tree will need around 20 inches of water each year, so you may not need to ever water your tree unless there is a severe drought.

Maintenance: There is really no maintenance with this tree. It is very disease and pest resistant. If you do see infested or diseased branches, you can prune them down to the trunk in the fall.
