Healthy Prune Plum seems to have settled in for the winter
I ordered this French Prune Plum to replace a competitor's product that died all the way down to the graft after the first winter. I really love French prunes. The tree arrived quickly and in the exact condition I was told to expect in emailed materials ahead of time. It showed signs of a smooth transition into dormancy. I appreciate that Fast Growing Trees took the time to explain all of this in their materials. Fall is a great time to plant but it's not a very dramatic time in terms of outward signs so it's helpful to have a vendor take the time to remind you what your tree is doing. It was a little smaller than my previous prune. I am hoping that this means it will be better adapted to its first winter on my site and shoot up in the spring. It hung onto its healthy leaves until the first few cold nights then shed them after that but the roots and trunk appear to be settling into the planting hole well after being mulched appropriately.
