Didn't make it through the winter

They were beautiful last year. But my 2 banana trees didn't make it through the winter. We insulated well. They are all mushy.

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi Laura, I'm sorry to hear about your banana trees not making it through the winter. The stalk may have died back but the roots may still be alive. We'd recommend cutting it all the way back and seeing if it'll push out new pups from the root. Reach out if we can help with questions or additional concerns!

Hope they come back this spring

Last year I purchased three cold hardy banana trees to plant around our pool for privacy. They grew very fast and were absolutely beautiful. We had a hard freeze in Austin Texas this past January that seems to have killed them. They were cut for winter and very well insulated with both frost cloth and lots of mulch. They are mushy well below the soil level. I ordered three more just in case the ones in the ground don't come back.

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi Brian! It's common for these to die back because they are a perennial, but it should signal a new tree to come up in Spring. Let us know if we can help with any questions or concerns!
