Hybrid Willows are the leaders in my newly-planted forest
Thanks for the Hybrid Willows. I bought several a couple of years ago to replace trees lost to an invasive pest and they are doing spectacularly well, especially those in full sun. Some are well over 30 feet tall already and they provide a shimmering silver green screen along part of my long property line. The arrived as modest thin branches (nice shipping package, by the way!) about 4 feet tall. After planting, they quickly establish and are soon growing several feet a year each. I wish all tree types grew so fast!
Fast growing!
Ordered and planted 3 summers ago it was 5ft tall. It’s now a massive 30 feet tall. My best advice is literally leave the hose on them for hours. They love wet wet wet soil. Its the tall tree in the backround in the picture
Willow hybrid
Very pleased - 1st delivery damaged in transit, prompt response and replacement. Got in the ground by mid-May. It has filled out and grown over 2 feet in just 3 months here in south central PA. I have it staked for support and hoping it winters well.
Be wary what you purchased
I purchased 8 hybrid willow trees. The first shipment came, everyone one was broken in half. They sent replacements, once again broken in half. The packaging was very flimsy for a delicate tall plant. The shipper also ignored the handle with care. The health of the plants were satisfactory if they would not have been broken. They did refund my order. I have attempted to plant and grow them, they are growing but not as expected.
