The Most Popular Houseplant for Decor

Named the “it” tree of design world by the New York Times, the Fiddle-Leaf Fig is rising the ranks, becoming the most coveted houseplant of the decade. Large, glossy violin-shaped leaves are its namesake, perfectly contrasting against a sleek trunk.

And a mature height of 6 to 10 feet means effortless drama and volume in any space. Originally grown under the canopies of African rainforests, the robustly full Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree fits in perfectly with the natural, indirect light of your home.

All you have to do is pay attention to its leaves' overall hue to check on your Fiddle-Leaf's health. If your tree doesn't get enough water, its new leaves will turn brown and drop. If the plant is overwatered, the oldest leaves (near the base) will turn brown and fall as well.

Houseplant perfection is just a click away. Gracing magazine covers and designers' homes, the Fiddle-Leaf Fig is a natural work of art with equal parts beauty and brawn.

Best of all, it's hassle-free. Trend-savvy and totally carefree, this lush green houseplant makes a sharp statement. It's happy, healthful and right at home in any space. Order your own Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree today!

Beautiful since we opened the box!
I bought 2 fig trees at the same time. They arrived together in the same box, tightly wrapped. We live in Houston TX and it’s HOT right now!!! Like really really hot!! They were absolutely fine! I took them out immediately and followed the watering directions.. the next day we bought pretty ceramic pots and Miracle Grow potting soil and added about 2 inches of black mulch to the top.. they have been perfectly beautiful since we opened the box.. they never lost a leaf.. I did clean the leaves with a wet paper towel after we potted them and then used a tiny bit of coconut oil on a paper towel and made them shiny!! They are gorgeous! I have them close to windows on opposite sides of the house.. one is in the front and gets morning sun and the other is in the back and gets afternoon sun.. both are happy and perky!! No signs of stress and we have had them for a few weeks now!

Bigger than expected
Just received today so I can't review the quality or growth but, it's much taller than expected. Large leaves (folded up due to travel, so I hope they loosen soon and don't drop from shock.). Its also root bound so I'll need to repot immediately.

For the price its twice the size of the big box.

Will wait a month to see how it does and add to review. If all goes well, will defiantly get another one or two...

Hopeful
Purchased 2 of the Fiddle-Leaf Fig Trees. Both arrived in very good condition. One was over a foot taller than the other, which was ok. Neither is really tree-shaped, however, with large leaves growing from almost the base of the trunk. I have been reading about when and how to prune/shape the trees so hopefully I'll end up with the trees I want. Both are indoor potted plants. Both appear very healthy and would def buy again.

Fiddle leaf for
When I received my fiddle lead fig, it was perfect no leaves broken. But after about a month the leaves started falling off and big black were all over the leaves. I watered according to instructions. I’m not sure what happened I moved to different side of the house, and hoping it will come to life and new leaves will grow.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree

Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree Planting Diretions

Your Fiddle-Leaf Fig tree needs lots of indirect, bright light. The best place for your plant is near an east facing windowing that is free from drafts. Cold, dry air from an AC or window/door will be harmful to your tree. Fiddle-Leaf trees acclimate to conditions very well, but do not like to be moved around.

Potting Instructions: Plant your Fiddle Leaf Fig tree in a pot that is 12-14 inches in diameter. You'll want to give the roots room to grow. Use well-drained peaty soil. Make sure your pot has proper drainage holes. You can place your pot on top of a base with stones to prevent spills and allow for proper moisture containment.

Re-potting: Do not allow the roots to become over-crowded. Check the drainage holes to make sure your roots are not poking out. Re-pot as needed to allow the Fiddle-Leaf to grow (usually once a year).

Watering: Allow the top layer of the soil to dry out completely, and then water deeply until water begins to drain. Repeat this process as needed. If the bottom leaves are turning brown or yellow, you are over-watering. If the top leaves turn brown, you  are under-watering. Spritz leaves with water in the dry winter months or throughout the year if you live in a dry climate.

Fertilization: Feed with a water-soluble fertilizer once in the spring and every month in the summer.

Pests: You may see aphids, mites and insects on your plant, but it is not usually a problem. If you do, spray a solution of 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap and 1 gallon of water on the leaves.

Dusting: Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree leaves do collect dust, so be sure to keep your tree healthy by wiping down the leaves as needed with a dust cloth.

I bought this as an anniversary gift for my cousins, Darrell and Tabitha, because they have a new house, and this plant is lovely, hardy and easy to care for. This is a couple who already has everything.I did not know enough about their tastes to pick something that specifically caters to them. I think anyone would like this tree for a gift, provided they have room in their place like these two do.

I like a columnar tree for the corners of my house; the fiddle leaf fits that need. Also, the tree is beautiful and easy to care for. They're fast-growing, and needs water only once a week. My tree in the dining room is not so well-lighted, but I put a nightlight underneath and it seems to live happily with the arrangement. I'm confident these two additions will thrive as well.

If we cut the top of this tree, will it start branching?
Prof W on Aug 10, 2018
can these fiddle leaf trees be put outside in the summer?
Linda P on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine were not growing in the house at all. Around May I put them on my wrap around porch southern exposure but no direct sunlight in them. Bright indirect light. They suddenly started growing like mad, putting out one beautiful glossy leaf after another. One of the two has grown at least 1.5 feet in height since then. I’m going to leave them out through Sept and bring them in. So pleased I seem to have stumbled on the perfect growing conditions. The leaves will burn here in the hot west in direct sunlight. Open shade works good. I also wash their leaves down with a gentle spray when I water them. Good luck!
Is this safe for cats?
Julie S on Jul 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This plant is poisonous to both cats and dogs.
