Don't Buy Bare-Root Trees (learn why below)

Sun-Ripened and Naturally Sweet

The #1 most popular fresh market cherry, the Bing cherry is the variety by which all others are compared. A member of this elite club, the Bada Bing is large and plump with a deep, lustrous red color and meaty, purplish flesh. Sun-ripened to perfection, it’s exceptionally sweet and tangy, proving irresistible at harvest time!

Bada Bing, Bada Boom… It’s Self-Fertile!

Read the reviews, and you’ll find that most cherry trees require a second compatible cultivar to set fruit. It’s indeed true of the standard Bing. The Bada Bing, however, is a self-fertile sweet cherry tree. Although used as a companion pollinator for other varieties, it only takes one Bada Bing to see big returns!

It’s worth noting that many cherries are prone to splitting if wet weather prevails when fruit is ripening. Not the Bada Bing! Its outer skin is more tolerant of rainy conditions and resists the tendency to crack.

Dazzling Spring Spectacle

During spring cherry blossom season, the Bada Bing holds a place of garden prominence. It’s amassed in an extravagant display of white-clustered blooms and infused with a sugary, aromatic fragrance – sure sign of a “sweet” bounty!

Like all cherry trees, the Bada Bing performs best in an open, sunny location with well-draining, sandy soil. It grows in a wide range of climates but requires 900 chill hours – about 5 ½ weeks below 45 degrees – to properly leaf, bud and ultimately produce a plentiful harvest.

Buckets Full of Cherries!

Although most of us experience the favored Bing after it has traveled some distance, its refreshing, succulent taste is most appreciated straight from the bucket -- still warm from a day in the sun! Taking 5 to 7 years to mature, the Bada Bing harvest season begins in late June, about 1 to 2 weeks after the common variety. This tree can yield 50 to 100 pounds of fruit in a given year, enough to fill 25 to 50 quart bags!

To ensure these cherries reach maximum sugar saturation, wait for Bada Bings to take on a deep, garnet color before picking. If fresh eating is a priority, keep stems attached and only wash when ready to use. They can be kept out for a few days or stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Sweet Treats All Year

Firm and naturally sweet, Bada Bings are a delight in salads, smoothies and cocktails. They’re a flavorful accompaniment to baked goods with little need for added sugar or starch. To enjoy after “cherry season,” Bada Bings are easily stored frozen, dried or preserved.

Everything is sweeter with a cherry on top, so join the ranks of growers by ordering a Bada Bing for your edible garden. It only takes one to start enjoying this favorite summer fruit!

Bada Bing Cherry Tree Pollination

Bada Bing Cherry Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Bada Bing Cherry Tree will drastically increase the size of your crop.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Bada Bing Cherry Tree

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Bada Bing Cherry Tree.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Bada Bing Cherry Tree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Bada Bing Cherry Tree again after the transplant is complete.

Hi. Could You Please Explain what, "chill hours"are? Thanks so much.

BEST ANSWER: Some plants/trees need to experience cold temps for extended period of time (chill hours) so those trees wouldn't do well in say Miami, but better suited to Michigan where it actually freezes.
