North or South and Indoors or Out, Sugar Cane is Sweet

Sugar cane is a stunning ornamental. It looks just like dark purple bamboo with a varnished finish and long, slender leaves. Home designers love it for its modern flair and its exotic feel. You can make a privacy hedge, windbreak or accent piece out of Sugar Cane. And best of all, it will yield pounds of sweet, juicy sugar cane.

Store-bought sugars are refined with bleach and other chemicals. But with Sugar Cane, you can make your own homemade sugar that contains antioxidants, flavonoids and a richer flavor. Diabetics can enjoy Sugar Cane as well, since it boasts a relatively low glycemic index of 43.

Plus, our Sugar Cane is perfectly suited to indoor gardening! No matter how far North you live, you can grow your own Sugar Cane easily, near a sunny window.

Even better, your home-grown Sugar Cane is super versatile. Rich Southern syrups, your own distilled rum or molasses, or your own sugar straws for mixed drinks and more. Sweeten your own beverages, naturally, with the coveted Sugar Cane.

And baked goods taste out of this world when you use fresh, unrefined sugar. You can sweeten your coffee or tea by placing a small strip of raw cane in your cup. Some professional chefs use it to skewer fresh shrimp for a unique, tropical-inspired taste. Sugar Cane juice makes the perfect energy or sports drink with natural glucose and electrolytes for long, sustained energy without the crash.

No pruning, no problems. This will be the lowest maintenance plant you own. The only time you will have to touch your plant? When you water and harvest. No hassle - just sweet, abundant Sugar Cane. And abundant is the keyword, since your Sugar Cane will produce delectable canes for 6 to 8 years. Three plants will make a pound of sugar, paying for themselves several times over.

Sugar Cane is limited to certain times every year - and this popular plant is selling out. Order yours today!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Sugar Cane 'Noble'

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Sugar Cane 'Noble'.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Sugar Cane 'Noble' gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Sugar Cane 'Noble' again after the transplant is complete.
