The Space Saving Flowering Cherry With Tons of Color

Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry Trees are popular all across the nation because they display multiple seasons of color in even the smallest landscapes. By only growing to about 15 feet tall they can fit anywhere.

They are the perfect choice for planting in rows along a property border or close to structures like driveways or sidewalks because they won’t take over the space. However, with their unforgettable beauty they are most often used as accent pieces or the main focal point of flowering gardens.

Snow Fountain Weeping Cherries have elegant arching branches that become covered in thousands of pure white blossoms every spring. The flowers cover the tree from top to bottom, causing it to look like a large water fountain that’s completely frozen over.

During the warmer seasons the canopy becomes filled with lush, glossy green leaves that turn vibrant shades of orange and gold in the fall. In the winter the Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry still displays color with its red to mahogany trunk that stands in the empty winter landscape.

The blossoms attract important pollinators like butterflies and your landscape, which are a delight to watch as they flutter from bloom to bloom. They will pollinate your Weeping Cherry tree as well as other flowering plants in your garden.

Low maintenance Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry Trees are a favorite among the north and snow because they’re cold hardy and heat resistant. They are cold hardy to zone 5 and will flourish under heavy layers of ice and snow. Your summers will be worry free while your drought tolerant Snow Fountain Weeping Cherry Tree flourishes without the need to be constantly checked on.

Good quality plant but a little smaller then I expected but still good value and good quality
Smaller then I expected but this was a good specimen and the tree appears to be growing well. I think I will definitely order again from this company. I am excited to see how the tree gets larger and flowers next year. I ordered and planted mine after the flowering was over and it still occasionally had a few sporadic flowers to my surprise. But I can’t wait to see it covered in flowers next season. The free gift tree (dogwood) was kind of a joke in how tiny it was (a twig) but it was free anyways so I guess who cares.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Snow Fountains® Weeping Cherry Tree

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Snow Fountains® Weeping Cherry Tree.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Snow Fountains® Weeping Cherry Tree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Snow Fountains® Weeping Cherry Tree again after the transplant is complete.

How big do these get about? I have a bay window in front of my house with about a 4 foot circumference around it. Will that be enough room or will it dominate the space?

BEST ANSWER: The mature height is 8-15ft tall and 6-8ft wide.
Should I prune my snow fountain? If so, how?
Deborah J on Mar 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Best to do a Google search. I found site (but appears cannot post link here). Here are some highlights:
To encourage your branches to arch up and then fall, prune areas that drop down and leave branches that arch out like an umbrella.
Most important, you should prune your weeping cherry tree right after it flowers and before the leaves grow in. This is the optimal time to prune because it is easier to see where you need to make a cut without the leaves.
The other suggests a second pruning in June or July.
What time of year should i plant my weeping cherry tree ?
Cinsue20 on Apr 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They can be planted all year, as long as the ground isn’t frozen. If you plant your tree during the summer, especially during a heat wave of drought then give your tree extra water. The best time to plant is in the fall, six weeks before the first frost so your tree can get rooted into the ground before winter, or in the spring six weeks after the final frost, giving it time to become established before summer heat sets in. Keep in mind that planting during the summer still gives your tree enough time to get rooted in before the winter.

Jerry D on Jun 10, 2018
