Wildfire Black gum Tree was received in very good condition The tree has been planted and is looking very healthy.
Not as advertised. These are not actual 6' trees
I never write reviews, but this has situation has warranted one. I bought 12 of the wildfire black gum trees to line my driveway a year ago. The trees arrived healthy and in great condition, but that is where the good ends. I have purchased dozens of trees from nurseries over the years and this was my first purchase of trees from fastgrowingtrees. I have never seen a 6' trees unable to stand upright until mine arrived. the trunk max diameter was 3/8". I left them staked for the first 3 months because it was IMPOSSIBLE otherwise for the tree to stand upright. I changed the stakes out for arborist recommended offset arm type because the bark was being damaged from any amount of wind moving the trees and rubbing against the provided stake. I removed the staking systems in the winter in hopes that movement of the trunk without foliage on the tree in wind would stimulate trunk development. This spring the trees came back and are looking beautiful, but they still are unable to stand upright on their own!!! 1 year later after an immense effort from my wife and I to care water, etc 10/12 trees have permanent bark damage and they are still not able to stand upright. The money I saved on this purchase has cost me double in time and professional staking systems to only yield permanently damaged bark on most of the trees that will undoubtably shorten their lifespan down the road. GO TO A LOCAL NURSERY AND PAY DOUBLE TO GET AN ACTUAL TREE NOT A 3/8" STEM THAT HAS BEEN ENTRAINED TO GROW 6' AND SOLD AS A TREE!!! While I love the concept of this company, the reality is that this is the temu or wish. com version of a tree company. I hope this will help other people from falling into the same money saving trap that I fell into.
Beautiful system
Dealing with customer service to order the tree, beautiful. The tree had buds on it, a good size root ball and after a day to relax in the rain it looked better. After a week of rain she's already growing and looking great. I'll never use another service.
Growing so well!
Got our Wildfire last April. Came in great shape, and has done remarkably well since then. First 2 pictures are when received, the rest were taken just now (April 2025). Putting on fabulous new growth - it's at least a foot taller than last year!
