Product Description

Sweet Aroma, Pure White Blooms & Evergreen Foliage

Why Sweet Mock Orange Shrubs?

Also known as the English Dogwood or Philadelphus Coronarius, the Sweet Mock Orange Shrub gives you unbelievable fragrance with the perk of bright white blooms in late spring and early summer.

It's named for its citrus-like scent that emanates through botanical gardens, professionally-designed landscapes and beyond...greeting guests and neighbors with an unforgettable aroma.

Serrated emerald green leaves welcome spring, providing a lush backdrop for the perfectly-formed white blossoms that appear in early summer. Plus, because it's multi-stemmed and upright, the Sweet Mock Orange Shrub delights with arching branches in a semi-weeping form. And despite its delicate appearance, it's tough...resisting pests, diseases, and drought like a champ.

Why Fast-Growing-Trees.com is Better

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Before planting your Sweet Mock Orange in the ground, moisten the roots and set it in the shade for a few days. When you’re ready to plant, place your shrub in full sun to partial shade, avoiding deep shade (4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily).

Dig a hole about as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide. Set the tree in the hole, spreading out the roots over the surface of the hole. Fill the hole in with a mixture of the original soil and any additional topsoil required. Eliminate any air pockets that may have formed by tamping down firmly. Water the area until the top 3 inches of soil becomes moist but not soaked.

2. Watering: Water regularly in the first year after planting. Wait until the top 3 inches of soil dry out before watering again. Soon after the first year, your Sweet Mock Orange will become drought tolerant and only need water during extended droughts.

3. Fertilizing: Apply a complete fertilizer in early spring such as 10-10-10, preferably one with slow-release nitrogen and follow the directions on the packaging.

Already sweet sweet scent

I cannot be more pleased. We opened the box and WOW, the sweet scent of the Mock Orange. I was so thrilled with this bush. Delivered ON Easter and planted, it was a great was to celebrate. With the scent already apparent, I actually anticipate it to bloom this year. Maybe not fully but I hope a small bloom. Next to her is a baby sprout (circled in pic-not purchased here) I planted last year and surprisingly lived and has sprouts. So cross pollination is my hope.

Too soon to know

I cannot evaluate the sweet mock oranges until I see them in the spring. Shipping took 4 days. They were bedraggled by the time they arrived, and soon dropped their yellowing leaves. I hope they will recover and flower next spring. I purchased one earlier in the year that is thriving and can recommend on that basis.
