Planting & Care
1. Planting: Start by finding an area with full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight) and well-drained soil or select a container with drainage holes for planting your Devil’s Trumpet.
Once you’ve selected a location (or your container, which should be twice the size of your plant’s shipped container), dig a hole that’s around twice the size of your plant’s root ball and just as deep. Then, place the plant, tamp down the soil and water to settle the roots.
Note: All parts of the Devil’s Trumpet are poisonous if ingested, so avoid ingesting and keep pets and children away from your plant.2. Watering: Generally, you should check your soil about 2 to 3 inches down for dryness. If the soil around your Devil’s Trumpet is dry, water the plant. Watering about once or twice weekly is a good rule of thumb until your plant is established. The Devil’s Trumpet is moderately drought tolerant, but it’s important to ensure it stays hydrated!
3. Fertilizing: Feed your plant with a general-purpose fertilizer before new growth begins, in the late spring or early summer.
4. Pruning: You may prune your Devil’s Trumpet in the fall for shaping after its flowers have faded.
