Planting & Care
1. Planting: Start by finding an area with full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight) and well-drained soil or select a container with drainage holes for planting your Devil’s Trumpet.
Once you’ve selected a location (or your container, which should be twice the size of your plant’s shipped container), dig a hole that’s around twice the size of your plant’s root ball and just as deep. Then, place the plant, tamp down the soil and water to settle the roots.
Note: All parts of the Devil’s Trumpet are poisonous if ingested, so avoid ingesting and keep pets and children away from your plant.
2. Watering: Generally, you should check your soil about 2 to 3 inches down for dryness. If the soil around your Devil’s Trumpet is dry, water the plant. Watering about once or twice weekly is a good rule of thumb until your plant is established. The Devil’s Trumpet is moderately drought tolerant, but it’s important to ensure it stays hydrated!3. Fertilizing: Feed your plant with a general-purpose fertilizer before new growth begins, in the late spring or early summer.
4. Pruning: You may prune your Devil’s Trumpet in the fall for shaping after its flowers have faded.

The first week after the plant arrived I had to water it several times a day. I seems as though it has leveled off now, only having to water it every other day. The blooms are gorgeous.

Slow initially. Planted into a very large planter with all the recommended soil, etc. Always very thirsty. Central FL location. Just incredibly beautiful blooms & those waiting. Took these pics around 10:30 PM. Will be more in the morning.

The Devil's Trumpet plant arrived still slightly moist and already has two buds about to bloom. The plant has been potted and looks beautiful.

The datura was a little sad and dropping leaves when it arrived as it was held up in shipping and I imagine kept too cold. I gave it a lot of sun and a little time and new foliage and buds started to pop up within two weeks. It bloomed towards the end of a month. The blooms are huge and mesmerizing!
