Pollination Info
Vanilla Bean Plant Pollination
Vanilla Bean Plants are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Vanilla Bean Plant will drastically increase the size of your crop.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: For the best results, use well-draining soil and choose a location with filtered sunlight for your plant. An east-facing window is ideal.
Select a pot that's about twice the size of your plant's shipped container, use organic soil, and place your plant in its pot. Keep the humidity up around the plant by setting it on a water-filled pebble tray in its early stages. A light misting with a water bottle in the evenings is great for a more mature plant.
2. Watering: Water once weekly with warm water until it comes out of the bottom of your pot. If you're not sure when to water, simply check the surrounding soil about 2 inches down.
3. Fertilizing: Potted plants need to be fertilized every two weeks during the growing season with a low concentration of fertilizer. The best results come from using a formula like 10-10-10 or an orchid fertilizer.
FGT Pro Tip: to ensure bean pods hand pollinate the flowers with a small paintbrush. For best results pollinate the flowers within six hours of opening by using the paintbrush to spread the pollen around in the center of the flower.

Plant is thriving
Vanilla bean plant arrived undamaged and well packed. It is thriving and growing. I have fertilized it with orchid fertilizer. I am going to plant in a bigger pot soon. No flowers yet. Don't know when I will get my first vanilla bean!

It's alive. Too soon to tell
Received plant and although it arrived broken in half, both halves seem to still be alive. However, no signs of growth of flower/bean production yet.

Great buy
Plant arrived in good condition and is doing well.

vanilla bean
I have purchased many trees and plants from Fast Trees and never had a bad experience, out of all the plants I had one come shipped damaged and they replaced it immediately. BTW I've ordered over 15 plants/trees for my new green rooftop garden.

Terrific service
Purchased one plant that was handled roughly by the shipper, resulting in the plant and roots coming out of the pot. FastGrowingTrees replaced it for free in a couple days. Plant looks great and is growing well. Very impressed with the product and the company.
