Large Vivid Green Leaves Bring a Tropical Feel
Bright, fun and unique - the Polka Dot Plant is one colorful cutie! This petite plant is known for its variegated leaves that are spotted with freckles and splashes of white, pink, green, or red. The mottled foliage is oval-shaped and soft to the touch, with a bushy growth habit and a spread of just around 12 inches.
Low-maintenance and easy to care for, the Polka Dot does well as an indoor plant in any climate. Add an ornamental touch to window boxes, decorative containers, or use as part of a tablescape.
No matter where it is displayed, Polka Dot provides plenty of visual interest. Like the tropical areas where it originates, this plant thrives with bright, indirect light and a humid environment. Grow yours today!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: For indoor planting, choose a container with drainage holes and fill it with a good quality potting mix. Plant Polka Dot at the same depth as its original container. Place in a location where it will receive bright, filtered light.
For outdoor planting, choose a location with partial shade. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill the soil.
2. Watering: Water enough to keep the soil consistently moist, but never wet or soggy.
3. Pruning: Cut or pinch back the top two leaves on each stem every week to promote bushier growth. When the plant flowers, cut off the blooms because removing them prevents the plant from going into dormancy.
5. Fertilizing: Apply a well-balanced fertilizer once per month during spring and summer.
