1. Planting: The ideal time to plant daylilies is either early fall or early spring. They thrive in full sunlight but can also manage in partial shade. When planting, dig a hole that is deep enough to allow the roots to spread without bending. The roots should be positioned just below the surface of the soil, with the crown level with the soil. Daylilies prefer well-drained soil.

2. Watering: This plant has average water requirements. Water your plants regularly, but avoid overwatering them.

3. Fertilizing: Apply mulch to a depth of about 2 inches in northern areas. Adding a slow-release fertilizer at the base of the plant's root ball will encourage repeat blooms during the growing season.

4. Pruning: Daylily care involves annual pruning to remove dead foliage and flower stalks. You can deadhead spent flower blossoms to encourage re-blooming and maintain the desired size and shape. Cut back spent flower stems after the flowering period.
