Why Heritage® River Birch Trees?
It's easy to understand why the Heritage® River Birch is such a popular tree. For starters, it's resistant to common diseases, grows up to 2 to 3 feet each year, and adapts to a variety of soil types. Plus, it's an elegant source of shade, with unique peeling bark that stands out in your landscape.
This distinctive tree is easy to grow, too, adding character in nicely landscaped yards from Minnesota to Florida. It adapts well to both wet and dry planting sites and tolerates modest drought and mild floods. Even better is its ability to resist strong wind, ice, and other damaging elements. Basically, there's nothing the Heritage® River Birch can't do.

Fast growing but needs care!
Well-rounded, native tree to North America that can be pruned to match a more shrub like appearance. The "Dura Heat" cultivar is a close option that apparently has longer leaf duration and can withstand dry spells. Either way, this is a variety I chose for not only my damp areas of our property but literally discharge my basement sump pump directly into the area where the trees are planted. These grow fast, please make sure you drop granular fertilizer that matches the requirements of the selection. My property, as recently as a few years ago, had hundreds of white pine trees and the soil conditions are better matched from the start. I've read a few reviews on here and have one piece of advice. Please, whatever you do, don't plant this tree within a few feet of your home. The first issue is the roots can do damage to your foundation and utilities. The second issue is the tree probably won't thrive that close to a structure that naturally blocks sunlight and by design diverts water away from the area. The third would be the unfortunate and untimely demise of the tree if and when it begins to reach its expected 40+ feet in height and 15-20 feet in width and is no longer the "cute little tree" you originally purchased. Again, just don't plant these next to a house, it's a very bad idea.

Stunning!
We bought one in 2023, now it's beautiful and big tree. Tree arrived in good shape, planted it about week after. Look at it now! It's absolutely stunning! And the soil conditions here in central TX are far from ideal. My favorite tree in the garden!
