Piney Woods Peaches are looking good
The Harvester Peach is settling in nicely next to a few of my Gem Avocado's out here in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. They are planted in full sun from an hour after sunrise to two hours before sunset because of the pine trees. They do tend to wilt from the heat a little bit, but the avocado's wilt a bit more, usually by mid afternoon 2-3, but they all like a good drink of water, and by sunset they look fine. They really like the heavy rains we are getting now, but the beach is only a foot, or so, down past the top soil. So, any water that hits the ground moves on pretty quick. Unless the ground is soaked from flooding which tends to make it come bubbling back up, kinda like Texas Tea. BTW: I got a couple FGT Red Haven Peach Trees out back that are also doing just fine! Retired Life is good, and I ain't got a green thumb, but I got time to learn.
We planted a 4-5ft Harvester
We planted a 4-5ft Harvester Peach tree in Spring 2023. The growth has been vigorous (now at least 15 feet tall) and absolutely covered in peaches. I didn't get around to thinning the fruit this year and will end up with over 150 peaches from this one tree. Pictures include 2026 harvest so far in a basket, the tree about a month after planting in 2023, fresh peaches on homemade ice cream, and a shot of the tree last summer. I'd love to add another but I'm afraid we couldn't eat all the peaches!
