Five Months of Vibrant Winter Flowers
Hong Kong Orchid Trees bring the winter to life by opening their large, pink to purple blooms that are nearly six inches across. Their fragrant blooms first appear in November, just in time for the holidays and last for an entire 5 months to fill barren landscapes with vivid color.
They thrive in containers up north and are often used as the perfect accent piece for patios and porches. Don’t worry if you live outside of their recommended growing zones, 9 – 11 because they will grow inside without any fuss and look great once added in to any room’s existing home décor.
Hong Kong Orchid Trees are prized for being both ornamental and versatile. In the south by growing up to about 20 feet tall they are perfect for a privacy screen. Their thick, lush foliage will grow together to create a solid living wall that will block your neighbor’s view of your home.
Their attractive smooth grey trunks lead up to a massive umbrella shaped canopy that creates a large shaded area beneath it. Hong Kong Orchid Trees are an excellent choice for shading the yard and driveway to create cool areas that beat the summer heat.
Forget the myth that Orchids are sensitive because Hong Kong Orchids are extremely low maintenance and produce even more blooms when neglected. Throw your watering and care schedule out; Hong Kong Orchids don’t need constant attention or babying.
Hong Kong Orchid Trees will adapt to a variety of poor soils ranging from sandy to soils that are heavy with clay. With a high level of drought tolerance and heat resistance they flourish in dry, hot conditions. Nothing stops the Hong Kong Orchid from blooming for months.

Planting & Care
It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Hong Kong Orchid Tree
Step 1: Dig Your Hole
Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Hong Kong Orchid Tree .
First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.
Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.
Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.
Step 2: Place Your Plant
Next, separate the roots of your Hong Kong Orchid Tree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.
The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.
Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.
To make it just right, use a level.
Step 3: Backfill Your Hole
As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.
Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.
Water your Hong Kong Orchid Tree again after the transplant is complete.

This is a wonderful tree! I love mine. It is like a friend to me. Is grows really, really fast if your give it water, sun, and food. I live in Southern California so it like our nice climate. It may not like getting too cold. It grown like a teenage boy...fast, tall, and skinny. Do not let it get too top heavy or it will snap in a hard wind. That happened to me, but I braced to back up and it is again growing super fast. I would buy a hundred of these trees! I love them. They are beautiful and very nice to live with. Mine is like a friend to me.
