A Remarkable Tree You'll Feel Proud to Display

Become the owner of a prized American tree. The history and uses of the Eastern White Pine is fascinating. From Native American herbal remedies to building the homes of our nation's founders, this tree has held an important role in our country's history. Protected in the Great Smokey Mountains and respected throughout all of American history, the Eastern White Pine is a national treasure you will feel proud to own.

Plant a tree that will live for generations. There are Eastern White Pines that have lived up to 500 years. Though yours may not make history, with attention and care, your tree will live for centuries. Generations of your family will be able to enjoy the shade of this tree for years to come.

Dry or wet soil, it doesn't matter to the Eastern White Pine. As long as your soil doesn't face the extremes of drought or flooding, your tree will thrive in your yard. Perfect for large, open spaces or under the canopy of taller trees likes Aspens and Birches, the Eastern White Pine is adaptable to your large landscape.

This is the perfect tree for creating shade in large, open spaces. If you have a huge, hilly yard, an Eastern White Pine is the perfect solution for creating shade and visual interest. This tree doesn't like polluted, city environments or cramped spaces. Rather, it's the ideal tree for open, free landscapes.

Get the nostalgic feeling of winter as you watch snow fall on the hunter green foliage. The Eastern White Pine is a classic evergreen tree that will stand out amongst the bare trees in your yard when the cold arrives. White snow looks breathtaking when it falls on the soft, green needles. You'll love looking at the snowy branches full of needles and pinecones contrasted against the white and gray world of winter.

You can even use the branches and pinecones as holiday decoration. The soft, flexible branches of the Eastern White Pine are perfect for making wreaths in the holiday season. Of course, your children will love making crafts with the large pinecones all throughout the year.

Grow your own healthy Christmas Trees! Imagine growing your own Christmas tree, right in your yard. The Eastern White Pine makes a wonderful Christmas tree because it grows in the classic pyramidal shape. It's perfect for families that have children with asthma and allergies because it does not produce the strong smell that other Christmas trees do.

Wildlife love the Eastern White Pine. Porcupines, red squirrels, snowshoe hares and so many more animals love the bark of the Eastern White Pine. This is a wonderful tree for birdwatchers as it provides shelter for woodpeckers, mourning doves and the gorgeous red crossbill. You'll be entertained by all the activity you'll see around your tree.

Everyone loves the Eastern White Pine. Prized throughout history and loved by animals and birds, this tree is simply one of America's most beloved. Many people have already made the decision to invest in this piece of American history, so, don't hesitate to make your family proud by planting one today.

Beware of Bare-Root... It may be tempting to purchase a bare-root tree or shrub because it is less expensive than one with a full root system intact. The price is lower on bare-roots because they're cheaper to ship. You're very likely to receive a plant that is damaged because the delicate root system was exposed and the plant is starved of vital nutrients needed to survive. This will cause slower growth for your tree and will be more susceptible to disease.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Eastern White Pine Tree

Eastern White Pine Tree Planting Diretions

Planting Instructions: Plant your Eastern White Pine in a spot in your yard that gets 4 hours of sun each day. Planting in full sun will inspire faster growth, but will also make it more susceptible to disease. Partial shade is best. If planting more than 1 tree, be sure to leave at least 20' of space in between. Choose a place in your yard that has moderate soil that isn't too dry or wet. It is best to plant on top of a hill rather than at the bottom. Place a layer of pine needles or mulch around the base for moisture retention. Be sure to plant in a deep enough hole that does not allow the roots to become exposed. Be sure the soil is firm after planting. If you can pull the tree out once it is planet, you need to pack the soil more tightly.

Watering: There's no need to water the Eastern White Pine, unless you are going through a period of drought. This tree is very drought resistant and does not thrive if overwatered.

Maintenance: Keep a 3ft. radius around the tree free and clear from competing vegetation. After your tree is 5-7 years old, begin to prune to prevent disease. Prune your tree in winter or fall to keep only the branches at the top 2/3 of tree. This will help your tree go straighter and become more disease resistant. Immediately prune any diseased branches.

I love, love, love these little Eastern White Pine trees. I have always admired them for their fragrance, a breath of fresh air, and a walk in the forest. They remind me of vacations in the Adirondack Mountains, awakening to the smell of pine and the morning dew. I only wish that larger trees were available. These are strong little guys, and after planting them with the aid of Root Rocket (a wonderful practice for anyone who plants trees) I look forward to seeing how quickly they will grow.
