Fast-Growing, Drought-Tolerant Purple Flowers
This plant, native to Mexico and the U.S. Southwest, produces delicate lilac blooms that color your landscape from spring until frost. The Mexican Petunia is drought-tolerant and can withstand poor soil, making it the perfect landscape addition for year-round beauty.
Also known as Britton's Petunia, the Mexican Petunia is an evergreen plant that grows low and close to the ground. This fast-growing, self-seeding plant is known for filling up large open spaces, cascading over containers, and creating beautiful borders in any landscape. Use it for groundcover or place it in hanging baskets for optimal results!
With delicate, petunia-like flowers and nearly black stems, the Mexican Petunia offers unique appeal. It will grow 1-3 feet in height and width, so it can fit into any space, filling its surroundings with evergreen leaves and long-lasting blooms.
Being a low-maintenance plant, you can expect Mexican Petunia care to be relatively simple. These plants are known for their adaptability because they thrive in the heat, are drought tolerant, and flourish even in poor soil conditions. However, for fast growth and optimal blooms, plant this flower (also nicknamed the Mexican Bluebell for its bell-shaped blossoms) in a location with partial shade and well-draining, consistently moist soil.
Bring the Mexican Petunia to your planting space and experience constant, purple blooms all spring and summer long. Order yours today!

My Experience
I can firmly say Mexican Petunias are hardy even below 20 degrees. They have lived through several days of 8-12 degrees, and average of teens under 20, winters here in Birmingham, Alabama and are thriving this summer/fall. They take over my west side of house flower bed on my driveway. They only receive late afternoon/evening sun. The bees and butterflies love them. I have even dug them up several times in certain areas, and they are very hard to dig up. The stems can be as hard as a rock. And they will still keep coming back and keep growing more when I thought I had gotten it out. Kinda like mint. Mine get very tall, up to 6ft and are a perfect backdrop, layering plant, if you wanted to plant other small bushes or flowers in front of it.
