Lively Emerald Foliage Offers Vibrant Texture

Why Green Velvet Boxwood Shrubs?

Appearing almost velvety to the eye, the Green Velvet Boxwood Shrub makes a rich impression. This sparkling evergreen is aptly named, with its display of old growth in darker shades of green, and its new growth shining brightly in vivid shades of light green that adds texture, depth and dimension.

Plus, it grows in a natural sphere. Add one or multiple shrubs to an existing garden, or grouping. They're perfectly suited to enhance both casual and formal settings, and the Green Velvets are easygoing...with pest resistance, disease resistance and sturdy, adaptable growth that even stands up to deer. Urban smog, changing climates, and drought won't harm it either.

Boxwood update

So far I have six Green velvet boxwoods they are 1 gallon size and they seem pretty healthy. I heard good things about this variety so praying I don’t wind up with any of that boxwood blight or anything. Any advice on what I should use to prevent that please give it.

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi there, Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful update! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that your six Green Velvet Boxwoods are looking so healthy and happy in their new home. It is wonderful that you are proactively thinking about boxwood health! Boxwood Blight is a fungal issue that thrives in warm, humid conditions with poor air circulation, but you can easily prevent it from ever starting with a few simple cultural practices. First, always water your boxwoods directly at the base of the plant using a drip line or a hand-held hose rather than overhead sprinklers. Keeping the glossy evergreen foliage dry is the single best way to stop fungal spores from taking hold. Second, make sure to lay down a fresh layer of clean mulch around the base of each shrub. This acts as a protective shield that stops soil and fungal spores from splashing up onto the lower leaves when it rains. Lastly, whenever you prune your shrubs, wipe down your shears with rubbing alcohol between plants to ensure a perfectly clean cut. We hope this helps!

Boxwood

They were beautifully boxed and moist. . . I thought they would be bigger, but very healthy. . . .

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi Joyce, we're so glad they arrived healthy and in great condition! We completely understand the size can sometimes be a surprise. As a nursery we grow our shrubs on the younger side so they establish quickly and really fill out once they're in the ground. They should put on a lot of growth for you!
