Downhome Harvest® Hello Darlin® Blueberry Shrub

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a spot that receives full sun for at least 6 hours a day and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and equal in depth. Place the plant and backfill the soil, ensuring the crown of the plant is even with the soil level.

2. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting to establish roots. For the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Once established, the shrub will tolerate some drought, but regular watering during dry spells will enhance berry production.

3. Pruning: Prune the shrub in late winter or early spring while it’s still dormant. Remove dead or crossed branches to promote airflow and healthy growth. You can also thin out some of the older branches to encourage new growth and improve overall fruit production.

4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants once in early spring and again in mid-summer. Be sure to follow package instructions, as over-fertilizing can harm the plant.
