Cold Hardy and Ultra-Chic

Why Black Bamboo Plants?

Defined by its unique, fast-growing appearance and cold-hardy strength, Black Bamboo is a well-curated choice for indoors or outdoors. And since it's low-maintenance and hassle-free, it's perfect for beginner gardeners.

But what sets the Black Bamboo apart? For starters, the Black Bamboo withstands temperatures down to 0 degrees, making it one of the hardiest Bamboo varieties available. Gardeners in far-North states can plant their Bamboo in pots, then bring them inside for the winter.

Best of all, this tree's striking appearance is second to none. When your tree arrives, the shoots will be green. By the second year, (or even sooner!) they'll transition to a flat black color. Lush, deep green foliage provides an interesting contrast that is incomparable to other bamboos. It's an amazing addition to any garden as a focal point or a central part of your home decor.

Plus, it's a fast, durable grower that will claim 10 to 12 feet each year, ultimately reaching 25 feet in height. And since it's easy to tame, you can trim it to the height you desire. Some of our customers order several and plant them 3 to 5 feet apart to create a privacy screen!

Why Fast-Growing-Trees.com is Better

Effortlessly versatile and lush - is there anything better? We grow your Black Bamboo in their own containers from the very beginning, so you'll get a full, healthy root system that establishes quickly and explodes with new growth without all the work. More roots mean more canes that are healthy, thick and vigorous.

Other nurseries stock bare-root (if they even have the Black Bamboo at all). But when you order your Black Bamboo from Fast Growing Trees, you get a fast, easy grower that's ready to last year after year...without any hassle on your part.

The only catch is that you have to get your Black Bamboo before they're gone. Order your own Black Bamboo for instant luxe looks and easy grow today!

Have realistic expectations on growth, and also prepare a planting space accordingly

I bought 4 of these, “expecting” by plant reputation to have a quickly grown shade in front of my window from where not far from my planting location a previous tree had been taken out by storms. Several of the initial stalks had already been cut at roughly the purchasing height or shorter, and I wasn’t too happy about that. Moving on from initial reception, I had done some research, but not all concerning the bamboo’s growth patterns. I had prepared to contain it properly with 2 metal L shaped barricades set up boxing in the window, filled the area with soil mix, and evenly spread out the 4 plants throughout. Unlike reputation and sales pitch, observation and then later additional research revealed that they hardly grow their first year while the system is trying to establish itself (it did, however, require very little maintenance other than keeping it watered during dryer seasons). Now, we shall fast forward to the season spring that it has been planted. New stalks started, in various sizes and diameters, to gradually pop out of the soil once it warmed up. Once I watered it and then the spring rains began to hit, THEN they finally began to take off as originally stated by reputation, with new stalks sprouting all over in clumps and quickly rising (some of the stalks reached as high as the edge of my roof in less than a week, once the rainwater hit and they stayed wet). Thankfully, I have yet to see any of them breach my barricades to get into the yard, so they are growing in places where and like they are supposed to without causing me issues. Currently, the plan and progress so far is to trim them once each stalk reaches roughly the height of the window, then it had been fun watch the leafing vegetation grow out from the topped stalks after that (it’s too early for any of the new ones to be black, but the stalks themselves vary in diameter from about the size of a pencil to the larger ones are bigger around than my thumbs). There is still a number of months of possible rain ahead, and I’m excited to see what it does now with an established root system (which so far hasn’t choked out the nearby elephant ears that were also planted last year to accent alongside the black stalks).

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi John! We’re happy to hear your bamboo is now taking off and producing new growth. The first year is often quieter above ground, but once established, it can grow quickly just like you’re seeing. It sounds like you’ve set it up well for long-term success. Black Bamboo

I was pleasantly surprised, all arrived alive and well and have been doing very well since only has been a couple weeks and have grown a lot taller and filling out nicely already as well. Should grown into a nice privacy screen pretty quickly at the rate they are growing so far.
