The must have shade tree with year round color

The Exclamation London Planetree or ‘Morton’s Circle’ is the to go to for landscapers all over the nation because it has an upright, pyramidal growth habit that makes it a beautiful addition to any setting with multiple seasons of color.

In the spring and summer they have, lush green foliage that turns a shade of golden yellow in the fall. However, the real show begins in the winter when their smooth grey-brown bark peels away to reveal shades of white, grey and green underneath. The bark has beautiful marbled colors that stand out in the barren winter landscape.

With a growth rate of about 3 feet per year, Exclamation London Planetrees quickly establish themselves as mature shade trees. They’ll create cool areas in your yard; over the drive way and even shade your home to cut down on AC bills during the summer and to provide heat relief. In the winter they drop their leaves to let warm sunlight shine through.

When planted in rows their thick foliage will grow together to create a solid privacy barrier. A dense wall of living green foliage will block your neighbor’s view of your home and yard to give you privacy.

Exclamation London Planetrees are referred to as one of the most popular urban trees because they are highly tolerant of smog and pollution. They thrive in large cities even when planted close to the street. Plus, they help purify the air by filtering out smoke, toxins and pollutants, providing you with fresh clean air.

These tough trees are also cold hardy up to zone 4, and will flourish under heavy layers of ice and snow. They’re also heat and drought tolerant with a high level of pest and disease resistance. Nothing stops this tree from displaying year round color!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Exclamation London Planetree

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Exclamation London Planetree .

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Exclamation London Planetree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Exclamation London Planetree again after the transplant is complete.

What are the yellow objects shown in the bottom picture? Is this something the tree will drop to the ground which will need to be picked up?
Jolie B on Sep 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it produces small ball like fruit that will shed/drop in the winter.
Are the seed pods, shown in the last picture,
RedQT on Jul 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes if you are referring to the 4 pictures in the ad. These 4 pictures are indicative to the times of the year. I bought this tree last year 2017. It was 6ft when I planted it. It is now 11 ft tall now. Amazing the growth rate.
Is it safe for horses?
Claire K on Nov 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I hope so, it is close yo my horse corral. They cannot reach the actual tree but I use it for shade.
How far away from the street do you recommend I plant this tree? Thank you!
Allie on Sep 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just planted the tree this fall, and the tree is only about 4 feet tall, so results have yet to be seen; therefore, recommendations are likely trivial. I also understand that the London Planetree is recommended for city conditions near the street. We live out in the country, but I still thought it would look nice in our yard. With that in mind, I planted the tree in our front lawn approximately 30 feet from the oiled road. I hope it does well, and I hope you have luck as well. God bless.
How does this tree do in Texas heat and dry conditions?
