A Christmas Tree You Can Enjoy For a Lifetime!

Grow the most popular Christmas tree in your own yard. The Douglasfir (Douglas Fir) makes up more than half of the trees purchased as Christmas trees each year. But there's so much more to this beloved tree. You'll love everything it brings to your landscape.

A tree that stands strong and proud, Douglasfirs are one of America's top sources of lumber, and they've been used for centuries for everything including the railroad ties and telephone poles that built our nation. There's a reason this tree stands the test of time - it's hardy, sturdy and it's easy to grow.

Get ready for a tree that outlives you and your family for centuries to come. Planting a Douglasfir means you're contributing to an important part of the ecosystem that will live for centuries. Many times, these trees live for nearly 800 years!

Don't let the sturdiness fool, the Douglasfir is a softy. It may be hardy, but you'll love running your hands over the soft needles. In fact, those soft needles are one of the reasons this tree is so popular in the holiday season. It won't hurt tiny, fragile hands, and the needles are strong and don't easily fall off.

Add a touch of holiday charm all year long. The Douglasfir is an evergreen that never loses its rich yellow-green color. Whether its unique shape is standing out amongst other summer trees or its beautiful needs are covered with white snow, you'll enjoy the charm it adds to your yard throughout every season.

Plant one as a showpiece, or several as an enchanting forest. The Douglasfir grows great alone or together. You can add a statement to one part of your landscape, or enhance an entire area with these dense, tall trees. Growing to 40-70 ft (and sometimes up to 300 ft. in the wild), you'll be making a grand addition to your yard whether you plant one or several.

Wildlife love the Douglasfir, and you'll love watching them. From small creatures like songbirds and rabbits to larger wildlife like elk and mountain goats, the Douglasfir is an important nutrient source for many animals. You'll be amazed at the wildlife that come to visit you once you plant this tree.

There's nothing to taking care of a Douglasfir. As long as you plant a Douglasfir in well-draining soil and give it a little sunshine, it will be happy and growing. Douglasfirs are very drought tolerant, surviving in areas with as little as 16" of rain each year, and there's no pruning, fertilizing or disease maintenance to be done. Just sit back and watch this gorgeous evergreen grow.

Popular trees don't last long. It's hard to resist the charm, sturdiness and easy-going nature of the Douglasfir. It's one of the most popular trees for a reason; so don't let your chance to grow your own slip by. Order your Douglasfirs today!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Douglas Fir Tree

Douglas Fir Tree Planting Diretions

Plant your Douglasfir in a spot in your yard that gets at least 6 hours of sun each day. If planting more than 1 tree, be sure to leave at least 20 feet of space in between. It's very important that you plant in well-drained soil. To plant, dig a hole in the ground that is two times as large as the root ball. Place the tree in the loose soil and press the soil down until the tree's roots are completely covered.

Watering: Water the ground immediately after you plant your tree, but don't oversoak. To establish your young tree, you may need water 1-4 times each month during the summer. Your tree will need around 20 inches of water each year, so you may not need to ever water your tree unless there is a severe drought.

Maintenance: There is really no maintenance with this tree. It is very disease and pest resistant. If you do see infested or diseased branches, you can prune them down to the trunk in the fall.
