Planting & Care
1. Planting Plant your Red Oak in a spot in your yard that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day and with plenty of room to grow.
When you're ready to plant, dig a hole that's large enough to accommodate the tree's root ball. After you plant the tree, tamp down the soil until it is firm. Thoroughly water the base of the tree so that water penetrates the roots. And finally, spread a good amount of mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture.
2. Watering: Water the tree to keep the ground moist. Watering deeply, once a week, should be enough to help your young tree establish roots. Once your tree matures, you only need to water in the dry seasons where you get less than 1 inch of rainfall per month.
3. Fertilizing: You can add a general purpose fertilizer once a year if you notice slow growth - otherwise, fertilizer isn't necessary to help the Southern Red thrive.

Ordered 2 trees which came nicely packed and secured in 1 box measuring approximately 6 feet. Planted and we'll anxiously see how they develop in the years to come! I chose this tree because several oaks in the neighborhood seem to do better during our droughts once they're established.

Just received and planted last week. Was well packed and got here on expected date. Only time will tell.

Hi All, I am a real customer. I don't write reviews much but found reading other people's reviews very helpful post a big order I was placing. It just gave me comfort that the plants would arrive healthy. While there were some issues with the delivery (order came in three parts - FedEx had issues, this was not a FGT problem, COVID delays, etc), but the quality of the plants & trees I selected were A+. I purchased in April/May 2020, Wuhan Virus was front and center at that time. I ordered up to 15 Giant Greeen Arbovites, Southern Red Oak, Crape Myrtles, etc. It was a big order. My only issue was the order did not come at once as this caused issues coordinating with landscapers. However, customer service was EXCELLENT. People were very kind on the phone (shout out to Alicia) and over email. They replaced the lost plants and even included two extra GG arbovites. Unnecessary but a nice 'olive' branch considering the delay. Like most businesses that do not have their own distribution, delivery is largely out of their control. So, feel comfortable buying from FGT. Fair pricing, excellent product, and great team to answer any questions. They stand by their plants. S Joyce, Massachusetts

So far it is doing great after 2 weeks of being in the ground. No wilting or dieing leaves or anything at this time

it was amazing. It was easy to order online. I also ordered an American red maple tree.
