Small Citrus Tree with Big Flavor

The Nippon Orangequat Tree is a delightful fusion of a Satsuma mandarin and a Meiwa kumquat. Despite its name, this tree isn't a typical orange/ kumquat hybrid, but rather a unique blend that produces small fruits with a deep orange hue. The thick, spongy peel is entirely edible, and the fruit bursts with juicy, tart flavor.

One of the standout features of the Nippon Orangequat is its ability to produce multiple crops, with fruit maturing early and holding exceptionally well on the tree. In mild climates, this tree can bear fruit year-round, providing a continuous supply of fresh, tangy treats. The tree itself is small and elegant, with a somewhat weeping form inherited from its Satsuma parent, and narrow, kumquat-like leaves that add to its ornamental appeal.

The Nippon Orangequat Tree is hardy and resilient and thrives in cooler climates where Meyer lemons might struggle, offering an excellent alternative for those seeking citrusy flavor without the frostbite. The bright orange fruits can be enjoyed whole, rind and all, adding a zest to dishes or simply as a refreshing snack.

With its year-round fruiting potential, tart yet sweet flavor, and convenient, compact form, the Nippon Orangequat Tree makes a great addition to your landscape. Grow yours today!

It is not as expected. It is small and will take quite a few years before I can call it a tree.
