Bold Fall Colors Perfect as a Street or Shade Tree
The Katsura tree is a gorgeous Asian shade tree that’s easy to take care of and tolerant of most soil conditions and environments.
Here’s why you’re going to fall in love with this tree:
· High-quality ornamental autumn colors – the small, heart-shaped leaves turn a stunning yellow-apricot in autumn
· Pollution tolerant – often planted on medians and urban parks, the Katsura is very hardy in low air quality and even filters out some dangerous pollutants
· Shallow root system – add interest near streets and sidewalks without worrying about invasive, deep roots
This tree has a lot going for it, and even gives off a subtle, yet enticing aroma…
Imagine walking in your yard in fall and noticing an alluring smell of caramelized sugar and cinnamon.
The subtle scent makes raking autumn leaves a little more enjoyable, and certainly adds an extra element of fun for kids who like to play in big piles of leaves.
And best of all, this tree loves to grow… tolerant of everything but dry, sandy soils
No insect or disease problems, and completely non-invasive - you don’t have to worry about any maintenance.
This stunning Asian shade tree grows as a pyramidal shape when young, so it even looks good before it’s established.
Then, at its full height of 40-60 ft., the dense, rounded canopy offers brilliant shade.
This popular tree is a no-brainer for zones 4-8, so make sure to order yours now!

Customer Reviews & Photos
It is what I think of when I look at it. This was a replacement to the first one that arrived dying and eventually died. FGT was easy enough to talk to and sent me a replacement after I showed them the picture of the arrival of the 1st one. The 2nd one seems to be thriving but still small and runty looking after 3 weeks. I have ordered other trees from FGT but this was by far the thinnest smallest and runt-looking of all. But it is still alive and thriving - I can't really complain. I will update my review after a couple of months.
I was very disappointed. They were not cheap in price and I expected trees that were in better condition.
When I received the trees the leaves were all dry and falling off and the trees looked dead. I called as soon as I received the trees. I talked to a representative to let her know this and she said wait a few weeks to see if there was new growth. There is no new growth and they still look dead.
this tree grows big
this tree will grow to 90 feet tall by 80 ft wide. and it grows perfectly in kentucky. I like this tree for its cotton candy fragrance in the fall. and its pink red orange yellow fall color.
Planting & Care
Plant your Katsura Tree in soil that is not sandy or dry. It will thrive better in well-draining, acidic soil, but these are ideal, not required conditions. You can plant the Katsura near sidewalks or streets as the root system is shallow and not destructive. Plant in full sun or partial shade, but avoid areas with strong winds or scorching heat. Plant in a hole twice as wide, but just as deep as the root ball.
Watering: Water deeply and immediately after planting. Do not allow the soil to dry. This might mean watering frequently, especially as the tree is establishing. This tree is not drought tolerant.
Maintenance: There is no pruning, fertilizing, or pest and disease management required with this tree.
