A Practical, Low-Maintenance Tree for Every Yard
Why American Arborvitaes?
Whether you want an accent tree, natural privacy fence or a simple and easy tree for your yard, the American Arborvitae is a great choice. This tree is tolerant of most soil conditions and most climates, including both cold winters and hot summers.
That means it’s easy to grow. Once you plant the American Arborvitae, there's no need to prune, shape or fertilize this tree. This columnar, pyramidal tree will grow even if you don't have a green thumb and keeps its natural, elegant silhouette in the process.
It's the perfect, natural privacy fence. If you want an evergreen privacy fence that takes no maintenance, then you should order several American Arborvitaes. They grow perfectly together and won't require shearing to maintain. Plus, it’s ideal for plant next to entryways or near hard edges or corners to add softness and interest.

good experience/ will definitely order again. trees arrived earlier than expected.
Hello, we ordered 50 1-2’ for a future privacy hedge and windbreak. Having been to Italy in the military, I fell in love with the Italian cypress but our zone/temps here in the northern panhandle of WV forced me to find an alternative. Research brought me to the hardy, slender and tall American Pillar Arbivatae. So popular, it was getting hard to find. Fast-growing trees came through. Positives so far, and I’ve only just received them today! 1) Customer Service was amazing! Since I bought 50 of the little guys their team called me and offered an additional 10% off! Who does that? And, the lady was a joy to chat with. 2) Shipping containers protected the plants and they came in bagged quart plant containers. Soil was kept in the pots even though they went through the tumble with the delivery service and they were practically packed so they were not a hassle to handle. 3) Delivery status was spot on, got updates except for final delivery (our dog sitter let us know the plants arrived.) The accuracy allowed me to plan the tree planting bit-o-fun. (Paying my friends with hot wings and craft beer from a local establishment.) All plants look great. Got some friends coming over to help plant them. Our soil is a bit alkaline so I’m adding 2 health handfuls of Scott’s manure/organic compost to each hole. Then cypress mulch from HD, I find alternating cypress and cedar mulch gives the benefits of a nice aroma, bug repellent, a color that won’t fade and it tends to interlock so it won’t wash away. Will elevate the plants a bit for drainage and make sure the mulch does not touch the trunks. Only nit, I wish there was a “How to plant” sheet included in one of the boxes. Just me being lazy and not wanting to go grab my phone and google it. A solid 5-Star so far. If I can, I will provide updates. Can you tell this is my first time giving feedback like this? Pardon the babble, but I appreciate the value of a good review! Thanks Fast-Growing-Trees! And thank YOU for reading my review! TM 11 Oct, 2019
Shipped in good shape and time, I haven’t seen them yet in person, but my son is pleased with them, he showed me a picture of them, they look nice! Thanks.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: You can plant your American Arborvitae during any season, but avoid planting during very hot, dry weather. Choose a spot in your yard that receives full sun during the day (6 to 8 hours of sunlight). This tree prefers acidic, moist soil, but it can thrive in nearly any soil condition.
When you plant your tree, dig a hole that is a little bigger than the root ball. Place your tree in and fill it half way with soil. Then, firm the soil around the bottom half of the ball and water thoroughly. Fill the remainder of the hole and create a raised ridge around the base of the tree and then firm and water the soil again. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the tree, staying 3 inches away from the trunk.
2. Watering: During the first season that you plant your tree, it is important to water it frequently. The American Arborvitae needs to be watered deeply, so it is best to simply leave a water hose running for 10 minutes at the base of the tree, a few times per week. After the first season, you will no longer need to water the tree. Throughout the rest of the tree's life, you will only need to water it during periods of drought.
3. Pruning: For thicker, bushier trees, you can prune the tops. If you do not prune your trees, they will maintain a pyramidal, columnar shape. Prune off any dead or diseased branches you see throughout your tree's life. Prune only in early spring or summer.
Estimated Shipping Time: Most orders ship immediately, however we are currently experiencing delays and could take up to 11-14 days from date of purchase. As noted on the website, some items are seasonal, and may only ship in spring or fall. Once your order is shipped, you'll receive an email with a tracking number.
