Famous for unique, tropical flowers
The Bird Of Paradise, or ‘Crane Flower’ plant is known for its stunning flowers that resemble the shape of a tropical bird. The flowers sit among thick green leaves and look as if cranes are perched in the foliage.
The flowers sit on top of green canes with horizontal blue-grey bracts that sit horizontally. At the end of the bracts orange petals shoot straight up, looking like a bird’s feathery crown.
Once planted, they will morph your landscape into a tropical paradise filled with beauty and a sweet floral fragrance. Spectators will have to do a double take, because at first they’ll mistake the vibrant blooms for exotic wildlife, and then they will be drawn into the bright, beautiful colors.
You don’t have to live in a tropical area for Bird Of Paradise plants to thrive because they will grow in containers and inside without any fuss. Place your Bird Of Paradise inside near a sunny window when it starts to get cold, and then place it back outside when temperatures start to warm up again.
Bird Of Paradise plants have canes and large, thick leaves that are similar to banana leaves. They provide a lush background for the vibrant tropical flowers to pop against.
The Bird Of Paradise is often referred to as the ‘beginners tropical’ because it’s an incredibly low maintenance plant that’s easy to grow indoors and out. With a little water your Bird Of Paradise will thrive.

bird of paradise - orange
I hope the plant does eventually bloom and if it does I would have to change the rating to a 5-star rating. I am really trying to do what I can to make it feel happy so it will grow. The plant does look healthy and I am looking forward to the blooms. What can I write? Thanks.
Big green leaves very healthy. Hasn't bloomed yet but can't wait to see the blooms. It's in a large planter right now but will transplant when I develop the garden area.
looks good but.....
it arrived in great shape. it's now on our back patio and gets sun for about 6 to 8 hrs. the only problem is that there are no flowers as yet. don't know when they will bloom either. the leaves and stems are very stiff and healthy. it keeps getting new shoots and seems to like the larger pot that i transplanted to. i hope it blooms before i have to take it inside.
