Tainung Papaya Tree

1. Planting: Select a sunny spot with well-drained soil for your Tainung papaya tree. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and just as deep, then place the tree in the hole at the same level it was growing in its nursery pot. Water thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil around the roots.

2. Watering: Papaya trees thrive with consistent moisture but dislike soggy conditions. Water your tree regularly, particularly during dry spells, allowing the top inch of the soil to dry out between waterings. Ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged to promote healthy growth and fruit production.

3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is required for the Tainung papaya tree. However, remove any yellow or dead leaves to maintain its appearance and encourage air circulation. If the tree grows too tall or starts to outgrow its space, you may trim back the top to encourage bushier growth, but avoid cutting into the main trunk.

4. Fertilizing: Feed your papaya tree with a balanced fertilizer every 6-8 weeks during the growing season to ensure it receives the necessary nutrients for fruit production. A fertilizer higher in potassium can be beneficial as the tree begins to produce fruit.
