    Exceeded Expectations

I Bought the 6 inch, expecting a fairly small tree, similar in size to what grocery stores typically sell. What I received blew my expectations out of the water. I received a beautiful tree that was nearly 3 feet tall from trunk to tip, it even has a few flower buds on it. It’s stunning and I hope it lives a long time

    Olive Tree 04. 13. 26

So far, it appears to be doing well. How often should I water? Seems to dry out fast on top of the ground?

    Media from review #1
Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi Bob! We’re pleased to know your olive tree is off to a good start. For watering, a good rule is to check the top 2 inches of soil and water when that layer feels dry. Olive trees do not like to stay too wet, so it is best to let the soil dry a bit between waterings. If it is in a pot, you may need to water more often than if it were planted in the ground.

    Koroneiki Olives

Both trees have tiny florets/promising olives forming on them! One has opened up, stretching its branches out, while the other has stayed somewhat tight/vertical in its appearance. I’m soooo excited that they survived the winter and the transition from a south-facing, semi-protected area with marginal sun to a north-facing porch, fully exposed to the weather! Not certain what (if anything) to feed them, or when to transplant into larger pots (if ever), but both are quite happy in matching 10-gallon planters.

Fast Growing Trees Plant ExpertHi Loretta, it’s wonderful to hear both of your Koroneiki olives made it through the winter and are already showing promising fruit. That early floret and olive development is such an encouraging sign, especially after the move to a more exposed spot. For feeding, a light slow release fertilizer during the growing season is usually a good choice, especially one with a bit more nitrogen. As for transplanting, a 10 gallon planter can still be a great fit for now unless you notice roots crowding the pot, slower growth, or drainage changes. Please reach out anytime if you need help.
