Very Beautiful & Lush!
My Cryptomeri came to me, via a bird, dropping the seed! Never saw it before; had to ask a nursery to identify it. It is in a North-Westerly location; mostly Sun.It does like to be moist, not dry. Grows fast. It's in a container; not sure if I'll put in ground. May transplant to a larger container. One day it was just there growing! It's very Beautiful, and lush green. I won't prune; I like the shape. It has attracted many other friends comments! I use miracle grow- Bloom to fertilizer. I'd like to propagate, if possible! Need help to propagate or not.

The Deer Love it!
We live in the Texas Hill Country and although there are a few plants we can choose from that deer don't like, THIS is not one of them. Perhaps when it grows older and tougher it would become deer tolerant, but at the moment it is just another smorgasbord item for the deer.

The plant itself is trying it's hardest to grow and shows plenty of new growth with light green tips, but that's also the part the deer like. We were hoping to nurse it to a more mature size, but have decided to transplant it behind our fences so we can enjoy its beauty. It is a pretty bush and I'm sure it's going to be a favorite (soft and attractive growth), but for the time being, too tasty for the deer in South Texas Hill Country. Sigh!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Cryptomeria 'Globosa Nana'

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Cryptomeria 'Globosa Nana'.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Cryptomeria 'Globosa Nana' gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Cryptomeria 'Globosa Nana' again after the transplant is complete.
