Delicious Berries and Multiple Seasons of Color

Canadian Red Chokeberries are a delectable treat with a sour zing that’s followed by a rich earthy flavor. When snacking on them fresh you’ll enjoy their crunchy, firm skin and chewy texture as their tart juice makes you pucker.

Their sharp dry flavors are known to remind people of red wines, and are perfect for cooking. Most people use these Chokeberries for making sweet and sour jams and pies, as well as homemade wines and juices.

Not only are Canadian Red Chokeberries delicious, but also they’re an incredibly healthy super fruit. They’re filled with antioxidants, protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, zinc, and much more to keep your skin and hair healthy while naturally boosting your immune system and filling you with energy.

Canadian Red Chokeberries are the perfect addition to any yard because their vibrant colors provide all year interest. Your neighbors will swear that your beautiful tree is a different color every time they turn around.

In the spring they have showy white blossoms that pop against their green leaves. As new growth matures the leaves turn from green to an eye-catching shade of dark maroon all summer. Then in the fall the leaves turn bright shades of red and yellow to stand out as the brightest tree on the block.

By only growing 15 to 25 feet tall these trees are the perfect size. They will fit into any landscape without taking it over and will almost instantly start producing large harvests of dark purple chokeberries every fall.

These are tough low maintenance trees that will survive in a variety of different climates. By being cold hardy to zone two they thrive in northern areas with extremely harsh winters. Canadian Red Chokeberries are also wind resistant and drought tolerant. Nothing stops them from providing vibrant colors and tons of delicious Chokeberries.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Canadian Red Chokeberry

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Canadian Red Chokeberry .

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Canadian Red Chokeberry gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Canadian Red Chokeberry again after the transplant is complete.
