1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole that is twice the width and slightly deeper than the root ball. Gently loosen any tightly bound roots and place the shrub in the hole, ensuring the graft union is at soil level. Backfill with a mix of native soil and compost for added nutrients, and spread a layer of mulch 3 feet around the plant.

2. Watering: Water deeply once a week, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. During the hottest months, you may need to increase watering frequency. Ensure the plant receives consistent moisture, particularly during its initial establishment phase.

3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead or diseased wood and shape the plant to encourage an open center for air circulation. Aim to keep the overall structure balanced and healthy, cutting back approximately one-third of the total height.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced rose fertilizer in early spring and again in mid-summer to support blooming. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for application rates, and ensure to water your plant thoroughly after fertilizing for optimal nutrient absorption.
