Bloom Spikes Offer Unique Take on Flowering Evergreens

Why Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush?
A lower spreading silhouette meets evergreen foliage for a plant that fits in any garden. Even better? The Little John Dwarf Bottlebrush is set apart by its deep red, brush-like floral spikes that cover this shrub from spring into summer, giving it its name and offering season-after-season visual interest.

And its dense branching boasts aromatic blue-green leaves for even more beauty. So, the blooms aren’t the only interesting feature of the Little John – its foliage also gives off a sweet citrus scent when crushed! Plus, since its versatile, compact size is ideal for any area, you’ll get the benefits of good looks, drought tolerance and soil adaptability wherever you plant your Little John.

Great!

Noticed this particular species when our SF Bay Area town planted them in the newly constructed traffic circles in our neighborhood. Then saw a few more of them in a few neighbors' front yards. They all looked great and I was amazed that someone had hybridized the usual, ungainly bottlebrush tree down to a manageable shrub with beautiful foliage and flower color, and deer and drought resistant, to boot. So we bought and planted 16 of them outside the perimeter fence around our large, triangular lot. They arrived in great condition and we look forward to their putting down their roots and thriving this winter and blooming and cheering up the neighborhood with brilliant color next year!
