Crape Myrtle Black Diamond® Pave Pink™ Bush

1. Planting: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil for optimal growth. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball but no deeper than the root ball itself. Place the bush in the hole, making sure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil, and backfill with soil, gently firming it in place. Water thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil and eliminate air pockets.

2. Watering: While the Black Diamond® Pave Pink™ Crape Myrtle is drought-tolerant once established, it is essential to provide regular watering during the first growing season to help develop strong roots. Aim for deep watering sessions, ensuring the soil remains moist but not soggy. After the establishment period, watering can be reduced, though occasional supplemental watering during extended dry spells is beneficial.

3. Pruning: Pruning should be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead or damaged branches, focusing on maintaining an open canopy to promote good air circulation. Light pruning can also encourage more compact growth and abundant blooms, while still preserving the natural shape of the bush.

4. Fertilizing: Applying a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring will support healthy growth and vibrant blooms. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the appropriate amount, as over-fertilizing can lead to lush foliage at the expense of flowers. A second application in late summer can encourage reblooming.
