Decent size
Going to take a while to grow. I’ve heard 3-5ft per year I don’t know about that. These are a ft tall. Probably should have waited another season before selling. Received a few crooked trees not sure how they’re going to grow. Good customer service though.
Excited to get them in the ground!
I ordered 8 2-3 ft Junior Green Giants to use as a narrow privacy hedge compared with the standard Green Giant Arborvitae. All 8 arrived more or less healthy, though all show signs of winter bronzing. I’m excited to get these in the ground ASAP and see the tops return to their natural vibrant green.
Smallish Root Balls
I ordered my 36 Junior Giant Thuja trees as a privacy and potential sound buffer from a busy feeder road with a 45 mph speed limit sign, meaning most are doing 55 out there. I made sure the water and gas lines were marked. I chose trees that wouldn't have to be pruned and wouldn't reach the power lines above them. I figured to dig each hole wide and deep, like for a garden plant. Nope: Trees and bushes should only be as deep as their root ball, otherwise the plant can settle if the hole is dug too deep, hurting the plant. My 36 holes were all dug 12" deep. I wasn't too upset when I was repeatedly told my trees' root balls would be 10" because I could back-fill those 2 inches. I ordered 2' - 3' trees. None were 3', they measured around 28-29" tall. However, not ONE tree had a 10" root ball. I measured; these were ALL 6" to 7" root balls. That meant I had to back-fill a LOT of dirt as I planted them. I did tamp down the loose dirt, but I'm watching to see if these trees settle too much. I'd hate to have to dig them up to raise them! Every little tree has some browning on its upper branches. We're slowly recovering here from a drought on the coast of NC, and since these trees come from SC, I guess they were in drought too. I've been watering heavily every two days for the past three weeks, but haven't seen any change yet. Otherwise, the trees look fine! BTW- these trees come two to a box with 15 industrial shipping staples per box. These staples can rip you! (36 trees meant 18 boxes times 15 staples per box = 270 staples.) Use a flat edge screwdriver and a pair of pilers to get them carefully out before recycling them. Sydni was great at sales; Melody was fine at shipping info. But FGT online Chat was a disaster. Call them for better service.

Bought 48 of these!
Fast Growing Trees customer service is good. Packaging is excellent. They ship FedEx, which is notorious for delaying shipments... especially when it's least convenient for the recipient. Regardless... several months after planting all 48 specimens are healthy and I look forward to the privacy that will come as they grow.
