Simple and Resilient Growth

Known as the "Burgundy Bush," the Rubber Plant is a stunning, ornamental Ficus that makes an undeniable statement. It lights up any room as a centerpiece or table plant at 1 to 2 feet tall. Let it grow to 3 feet tall for a welcoming addition to an entranceway – or a warm enhancement beside your fireplace!

But unusual and bold foliage is the Rubber Plant's specialty. The Burgundy beauty develops large, 4-inch wide leaves that will extend up to 12 inches in length. Because the most impressive trait of its foliage is each leaf's deep burgundy, chocolate hues and vibrant red midrib, you can add warmth to any living space.

And aside from our few tips for care, the Rubber Plant is one of the easiest house plants to grow. Known as the ultimate starter plant because of its low-maintenance and simplistic nature, it gives confidence to first-time growers. It's able to handle a decent amount of neglect and prefers to dry out between waterings.

Overall, it’s not finicky about the environment. Temperatures that meet our comfort level are agreeable with this plant. The Rubber Plant's ideal temperature is between 65 degrees and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ticking all the boxes of a must-have house plant, the Rubber Plant (Ficus), or Burgundy Bush, is a prime pick. Order your own today!

Arrived in good condition. Looks very healthy but we’ll see after it’s been in its pot for a little while. It’s quite pretty and has new growth. Hopefully it lives!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Rubber Plant (Ficus)

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Rubber Plant (Ficus).

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Rubber Plant (Ficus) gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Rubber Plant (Ficus) again after the transplant is complete.
