A Very Manageable Shade Tree With Excellent Ornamental Value

You can't go wrong with the Lacebark Chinese Elm. Everything about this tree is great. It is truly the perfect tree for every yard. Not only will this Elm grow nearly everywhere and in nearly every condition, it will add incredible ornamental value to your landscape.

From polluted city streets to open country air, the Lacebark Chinese Elm thrives. This tree isn’t picky about where it likes to grow. You will often see it planted on the edge of busy sidewalks or in large, open landscapes. The Lacebark Elm is tolerant of every soil condition, so it has become a favorite of homeowners and city planners alike.

Taking care of this tree is easy. There's nothing to caring for a Lacebark Elm. With no need for fertilization, constant watering, pruning or disease management, you can really plant your tree and just watch it grow.

The Lacebark Elm is resistant to common Elm diseases. Many people are hesitant to plant Elms because they are worried about nasty diseases like Dutch Elm disease. There's no need to worry about that with the Lacebark. Native to China and sometimes called the Chinese Elm, the Lacebark is resistant to the terrible diseases and pests that plague other American Elms.

This tree isn't just manageable; it's absolutely gorgeous. In the spring and summer, a bounty of thick, glossy green leaves cover the rounded canopy of the Chinese Elm. As autumn approaches, the leaves turn a deep yellow and sometimes purple. You will love the depth of color this tree will bring to your landscape.

The bark is really where this tree stands out from the rest. Named after the unique characteristics of its bark, the Lacebark presents mesmerizing bark patterns and colors throughout the year. Even in winter, you'll get ornamental value from this tree as it matures and the bark molts to reveal an array of colors like brown, gray, orange, green and cream.

Growing to only 40', this tree won't overpower your landscape. The Lacebark Chinese Elm adds ornamental value in every landscape. As a perfect companion tree to pines or oaks or as the showpiece in a smaller yard, this tree can fit into any space.

A thick canopy makes it a great shade tree. Don't be fooled by the smaller size. The Lacebark Chinese Elm's thick canopy of leaves makes it a wonderful shade tree. Unlike the intimidating size of other shade trees, you'll feel comfortable and secure sitting under the shade of this tree.

Try to find a reason not to have this tree! The versatility, adaptability, ornamental value and manageability of the Chinese Elm make it an extremely popular tree. No one can think of a reason they shouldn't add this tree to their landscape. Order your Lacebark Chinese Elm today before they're all gone.

Planting & Care

Planting Instructions: The Lacebark Elm is easy to plant in your yard. Because of its tolerance to soil conditions, you can plant this tree anywhere you like. Plant in full sun or partial shade where it will receive at least 4 hours of sun each day. Adding mulch to the base of your tree will help keep the moisture in and prevent weeds and grass competition. You don't need to add anything to your soil when planting.

Watering: This tree can tolerate wet or dry conditions. Be sure to water the tree weekly in its young life to ensure proper growth. If it rains, you don't need to water your Lacebark Elm at all. After a couple years, you only need to water the tree during very dry spells.

Pruning: You don't need to prune the Lacebark Elm, but it can be helpful to remove dead bark and branches in the fall.
