Italian Plum Tree Pollination

Italian Plum Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional pollinator will drastically increase the size of your crop. Below are the most effective pollinators we have chosen for your area...

Perfect little tree.
The plum tree arrived with a peach tree and both shipped amazingly well. The plum tree has grown an additional 8 inches since it’s arrival and seems to be happy with its new home. Can’t wait for next years crop to begin!

plum trees
Received two trees in nice condition, one lost all its leaves almost immediately but has recovered and is in full bloom. I think they both will give many years of fruit!

The Jury is out
Planted the tree as instructed. I also planted two other trees from different sources which are doing well. This tree is not doing well. All the leaves browned and began to fall off. The tree is still alive and I am giving it TLC hoping to revive it and get new growth next year.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Italian Plum Tree

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Italian Plum Tree.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Italian Plum Tree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Italian Plum Tree again after the transplant is complete.
