Grow an endless supply of sweet berries all summer long

The Illinois Everbearing Mulberry is the mulberry variety that is most often used in jams, pies, muffins and more because they have an incredibly sweet and delicious flavor.

Each large berry has a firm texture, with soft juicy flesh on the inside. When eaten fresh each mulberry provides a satisfying crunch with a rush of refreshing berry juice.

You will never run out of fruit because the Illinois Everbearing Mulberry continues to produce berries all summer long, from June until September so you can enjoy them in your favorite recipes for months. They stand out in the landscape with a shade of bright red before ripening to a shade of purple to black.

By growing up to about 35 feet tall with a thick, lush canopy the Illinois Mulberry transforms the landscape by adding vibrant, green beauty. This mulberry variety is even more beautiful in the spring when it erupts with hundreds of bright yellow trumpet shaped blooms that attract butterflies.

The Illinois Everbearing Mulberry thrives almost anywhere in the country. It can handle the ice and snow up North as well as the heat and droughts in the South. By being one of the most disease and pest resistant mulberry varieties available it doesn’t require any babying. Once planted these trees will produce tons of mulberries without making a fuss.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Illinois Everbearing Mulberry

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Illinois Everbearing Mulberry .

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Illinois Everbearing Mulberry gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Illinois Everbearing Mulberry again after the transplant is complete.
