The benefits of the Drop ‘N Grow™ bag…

By growing these trees in burlap bags, the roots grow into the cloth, rather than circling around a pot. This forces these trees to put out thousands of fine hair roots. These roots bring moisture and nutrients into the plants. This means you get a tree that will become established quicker and provide you with superior and faster growth.

These will be the easiest trees you have ever planted! Simply dig your hole, place the Drop 'N Grow™ bag in the center (burlap included) then use excess dirt to fill the hole. That's it!

An Heirloom Apple with an Exquisite Taste

The Cox's Orange Pippin Apple Tree is a classic. Considered the most popular English apple variety, the Cox is known for its distinct, rich flavor. If you’re an apple lover, this tree will be the prize possession of your garden.

It has been loved for centuries. Developed in the 1800s, the Cox Orange Pippin has been a favorite for nearly 200 years. This antique variety has outlasted trends because of its undeniably classic apple taste.

Like the fine wine of apples, the Cox has subtle hints of several different flavors. While the fresh apple taste is immediately present, hints of melon, orange, honey and even a little spice can be tasted in every bite. Unlike anything you can buy from the store, you’ll be immediately impressed with your Cox's Orange Pippin Apples.

You’ll love the way this tree looks in your garden. An upright grower with spreading branches, the Cox's Orange Pippin Apple tree is one of the more visually stunning apple trees.

Beautiful white flowers bloom in spring. When you’re not enjoying the delicious apples, you’ll love looking at the bounty of white flowers that pop in spring.

Even the apple is delightful to look at. The Cox's Orange Pippin Apple has a round shape. A medium size, the yellow color is blushed with red and orange, giving it a unique and pleasant appearance. You’ll want to eat every apple that grows from this tree, but you’ll enjoy the color of the apples as the September harvest grows.

This is an apple tree for apple lovers. Many other apple varieties are bred for their disease resistance or bountiful harvest. This heirloom apple is grown for its taste. Requiring a little more supervision and care than a typical apple tree, you’ll truly feel proud of the “fruits of your labor.”

200 years of popularity doesn’t lie! You won’t be able to find these apples in a market, so if you want to taste the most delicious apple imaginable, you’ll have to grow them yourself! You will love these apples. Everyone does, so make sure to purchase your tree today.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Cox's Orange Pippin Apple Tree

Cox's Orange Pippin Apple Tree Planting Diretions

Planting and Caring Guide

Planting Instructions: Find a place in your yard that has well-drained soil and gets direct sunlight for 6-8 hrs a day. Remove all grass and weeds from a diameter of 3-4 ft. Dig a hole twice the size of the rootball and 2 ft. deep. Place your Cox Orange Pippin Apple tree in the hole, spreading its roots. Cover back with soil and water deeply to settle roots. Add a layer of mulch to retain moisture and prevent weed growth. You may also stake your tree to encourage upright growth. Place 3-4 wooden stakes, that are 1-2 ft. taller than the tree, around it. Then use garden wire or twine to loosely tie the stakes around the tree.

Watering: Depending on how much rain your area gets, you may need to water your tree every 10 days. If you get less than an inch of rain every 10 days, water the soil around the root line. Never overwater your apple tree.

Fertilization: The best way to fertilize your tree is to take a sample of soil to your local garden center and then amend the ph accordingly. It's best to fertilize in late winter or early spring. As an alternative you can buy commercial fertilizer produced for fruiting trees and follow the instructions.

Pruning: Prune your tree when it is dormant in late winter by removing all dead leaves and branches. It is best to prune the branches in such a way that the entire tree receives an equal amount of light.

Pollination: The Cox Orange Pippin Apple Tree does not self pollinate, so you must plant it alongside other varieties of apple trees to increase the harvest. The best varieties to plant with are Braeburn and the Golden Delicious varieties.

Disease Prevention: The Cox Orange Pippin is susceptible to many disease. The best way to prevent these diseases is to remain persistent about inspecting your tree and immediately removing diseased branches. Always remove dead leaves, fallen apples and plant debris from the ground below the tree after harvest. During the summer, spray the tree every other week with fungicide.

Harvesting: Your tree will bear fruit between the 2nd and 5th year. Cox Orange Pippin typically harvest in September, but these dates vary slightly depending on your climate and tree. To know if your apple is ripe, shake the apple and listen. Cox apples have loose seeds inside the core and will rattle when ripe.

Storage: Cox Orange Pippin Apples do not store for very long and are best eaten fresh. Sauces and jams can easily be made from Cox apples and are usually so sweet they don’t require added sugar.
