One of the Fastest Growing Privacy Screens

The American Pillar Arborvitae is a one-of-a-kind choice when it comes to privacy. Why? Well, for starters, it grows incredibly fast. After the first year, this tree grows more than 3 feet every year until it reaches 30 feet in height. Plus, since it's extremely narrow and dense (only 4 feet in width), it's the ideal screen.

There's simply no better option for a privacy screen because it's cheaper than a traditional fence, enclosing your entire backyard and saving money in maintenance. The dense growth habit and narrow width make it an absolutely choice pick. And since it can grow up to 30 feet, it's even well-suited to second story balconies and decks.

Even better? This tree is luxe and low-maintenance, without the need for a lot of care. Resistant to extreme heat, cold, wind, and ice, it's super strong. A little watering and it's good to grow!

And because it's long-lived, there's no need to worry about replanting - this tree will offer privacy and beauty for generations. Whether you want to save money and create a natural fence, or you just want to enjoy the deep green, dense leave along entryways and beyond, it wows.

This brand new variety of Arborvitae has impressed tree lovers around the country, and it's in high demand. Order your own American Pillar Arborvitae today!

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your American Pillar Arborvitae

American Pillar Arborvitae Planting Diretions

The American Pillar Arborvitae can be planted in any soil or air condition, but it needs to be placed in a spot that receives full sun. Plant in a hole twice as wide, but just as deep as the root ball. There is no need to amend the soil. Water thoroughly after planting to establish roots. You can add a small wire fence if you want to block access for a dog or small animal. This fence will be invisible after a few years, because the tree will effectively work as a fence once it reaches maturity.

Watering: This tree can tolerate wet or dry conditions. Be sure to water the tree weekly in its young life to ensure proper growth. Try to maintain even moisture for the first year.

Maintenance: This tree does not require any pruning, fertilizing or pest or disease management. If you want to reduce the size, you can prune off the top once it reaches over 10 ft. This will stunt the growth and allow you to customize your screen size.

Housing development going in right next to me in the countryside. These sound like the best bet for good screening hedges, even though will take a while for them to grow.
Would also be interested, if these do well, to purchase some older/taller trees of this variety if available down the line.

We already planted 10 of these about 1 month ago. We needed fast growing evergreen trees to block out passers by. We are surrounded by woods on 3 sides. Just the front yard is wide open.

A new house has been built and we wish to keep our privacy, plus block noise from their home. We hope this will work for us! We are building a small berm that will be planted with low-growing shrubs and flowers - it will be located in front of the trees and the trees will provide the back-drop. Such is the plan. . .

I live in Los Angeles County (Santa Clarita), can I use these trees?
Janet V on Nov 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We live at 7200’ elevation in Colorado - very dry and cold in the winter months… our young trees are growing well (we carried water to them throughout our dry months). We are hopeful for their survival and growth to provide us a “screen” between our neighbors. I cannot advise on how these will grow in California, but I bet there is someone out there who might be able to!Happy Holidays!
If my soil is not well-draining, is there anything I can do to ensure this tree will thrive in my yard?
KCHammer on Dec 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We planted ours by creating a mound, approximately 6 inches higher than the ground level, to lift them up for the same reason. So far they have done well. We'll see more this spring.
Is this tree deer resistant?
Linda A on Aug 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is listed as deer resistant ( more so than Emerald Green that deer like to chew on it in winter when food supply is limited). I believe it is as deer resistant as the Green Giant Arborvitae. Hope that help.
Will this tree handle/thrive in standing water? Or should I avoid planting in swampy-like areas?
Plant Newbie on Jul 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The American Pillar likes to be in well draining soil.
On average how much does this tree grow in a year?
