A new study released by the Environmental Working Group shows that significant amounts of chemicals can be absorbed into fruit.
If you thought you were safe by just washing or peeling your fruit, you may want to reconsider your choices.
Apples, peaches and cherries were shown to absorb the most chemicals, with berries not far behind.
But planted in your own backyard, these fruit trees are easily grown with no pesticides at all.
Fruits that are indented at the top tend to puddle chemicals... the stem then pulls the pesticides into the interior of the fruit. You can scrub your fruit all you want, but you can't get rid of it.
Peaches are the worst. Farmers spray them when they are young and small. When the peaches grow, the skin expands, creating tiny membrane crevices for the pesticides to leak through.
Thin skinned berries are highly absorbent... similar to human skin. You can rub a clove of garlic on your foot, and within 15 minutes you'll taste it in your mouth.
Now you can easily, organically grow your own fruit and berries... and start enjoying sweeter tasting, healthier and safer fruit.
